Forums - Sony Discussion - Biggest issue(s) with Sony for you

My biggest complaints are that I think PS+ is a scam when online should be free, I'm not too big of a fan of most of Sony's first party games, and the terribly poor battery on the dualshock 4.  Also, I don't know if this is just me, but it seems like their controllers are extremely fragile.  I've already had probably 5 PS3 controllers break and one PS4 controller break.

You are doing something very, very wrong if you've broken 6 controllers.

You do know you shouldn't throw them against a wall right? Just a guess.

Also scam is the wrong word. Sony isn't tricking people into subscribing.

I've never thrown the controllers once.  I've also never had a Nintendo or Xbox controller break on me.  Also maybe scam isn't the right word, but I do really hate the practice of making people pay for something that should be free.

Very mature conclusion.

You should reread the second comment I quoted from you.

You're the last person on these forums that should question other people's maturity.

*makes a fart joke*

Is he still the last person?

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

The Ghostbusters remake does come to mind, but I blame Amy Pascal for that, since she decided to pursue that one instead of signing onto the one Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt wanted to make.

On the gaming side, the choice to make proprietary memory cards, instead of just using inexpensive SD cards for the Vita. That's part of the reason for its failure, saleswise. The Vita/PS TV was also poorly mishandled, as it lacked the basic apps, Netflix being a major one, that would have actually made it a much more appealing streaming box.

Other than that, they have been doing a pretty damn good job at leaving me a satisfied customer.

What if you throw them at the tv? Hopefully that's alright.

No jrpgs being made.

Their handling of The Legend of Dragoon

That they still use android. They're at a point where releasing their own PlayStation-themed OS with a lax approval system for items in the PS App Store (separate from the console section), but maintain access to anything a Vita can access, as well.

That they have forgotten the Vita exists. The Vita needs to be incorporated into the emergence of the new PlayStation mobile system (current Vitas would have access to all Vita games in the first several generations of PSOS). The Vita would become the "gamer phone", with tablet and phone versions bolstering the ranks. This would mean yearly upgrades could be made to the Vita (for better or worse). All PSOS devices would also have built in Remote Play to any PS4/K. It would essentially be the only way to continue making a "handheld gaming device"; it has to also be a phone. Period.

The Vita needs a permanent price drop and new SKUs. A version of the aforementioned new gamer phone Vita would also be available with no Data access (like a standard iPad), and would be cheaper than the Vita currently is. Not only that, but it could include R2/L2 buttons on it with legacy support via TouchPad for older Vitas. There would be a new PSTV with an expanded library to include PS1&2-to-PS4 games (the ones with Trophy support) and PS2 Classics, and it would cost no more than $40.

And finally, that PS Vue isn't available on all PlayStation devices. It NEEDS to be on Vita and PSTV.

Pay for Online, lack of personality, mostly uninteresting first party games, targeting the teenager minded since PS2, too much focus on the cinematic experience, lack of support for Vita after a year, lack of any kind of innovation and a sometimes too toxic fanbase on the internet, I guess that's only a noisy minory, but still.

They make good hardware though, and good products overall, some of their exclusives are worth while and they also always had a very strong and stable third party support, so there is that.

Definitely agree with a lot of these points. Bolded ones in particular.

Would add, dropping support for products that fail also hate the majority of their exec.

for example?

Mishandling older game franchises like Socom and Resistance.

- Camera quality of their phones: Seriously, Sony is making the glorious iPhone camera sensors with ridiculous quality and then their own phones make photos that look like horseshit in comparison. How is that even possible?!

- Pricing: Whenever you get something from Sony, it sure as hell is available in the same quality from another manufacturer for significantly less moneyz. Like just recently, the Xperia XA costs 299 €, while the Honor 5C costs 199 € and is even better in some cases!

- Trying to force new standards: Ok, get this, Sony: Nobody wants your proprietary shit! Memory Sticks suck balls, Vita Memory Cards are insanely pricey, nobody needs them, ATRAC was DOA, that cable for Walkman MP3-Players is driving people nuts and I don't even need to mention Betamax, do I? Granted, some of those standards were technically pretty good, but it's no use if you can't use the stuff anywhere else than on Sony devices.

- Copy Protection: Do you still remember how you couldn't listen to certain CDs in your car because of silly copy protection? Yup, that one is from Sony. Remember all those crazy ass PC games trying to take over your machine or want to forbid certain software like Daemon Tools? Also from Sony. They took it waaaaay to far with their copy protection in the past.

That's about all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there's more. But despite their flaws, I'm a huge Sony fan at heart and love what they are doing. With a company as big as this, it's only natural that some shit is happening. But they can't possibly fuck up bad enough for me to forget about all the good stuff they are bringing, like PlayStation, the best (payable) headphones in the world, some of the best games ever, Sony Vegas, new innovations (they built smartwatches loooooong before it was cool) and of course Britney Spears! =D

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

I'm just not into their first party games. They are typically competently made, but they've never really added anything new or exceptional (with a few exceptions). Some games are just down right shamelessly derivative (Sports Champions, PSASBR), Everybody Dance, Move in general).
