Forums - Microsoft Discussion - XB1 S is a Better Value than a $400 PC

Since Microsoft Exclusives are PC and XB1 there have been people seeing no reason in owning a xb1 because all the games are playable on the PC. If you own a gaming PC and is interested in Microsoft Published games it makes sense for you not to get a Xbox One because there's no need for it. But for those that don't own a gaming PC but still want to play Microsoft Exclusives, the Xbox One S is a better value. A gaming PC that can handle the Microsoft Exclusives would probably put you at $400 and around $440 with taxes. But for a cheaper price you can get the Xbox One S and 60+ games within a year. The lowest costing Xbox One S would cost around $330 including taxes then you pay $60 for 12 months of live. $30 for EA Acess. By paying $420 within the year you would get 48 games with gold and the ocasionally free games like the Witcher 2, Limbo, and including the EA acess vault thats around 20 games. 68 games ina year for the price of $420 compared to paying $440 for a gaming PC alone.

Yup consoles are better value for the money than PC's in terms of hardware, no doubt about it! Games with Gold and PS+ is a great service that's not available on PC, and could definitely save you some money if you don't buy every game you want to play at launch.

Yup consoles are better value for the money than PC's, you won't get a PC as capable as a PS4 for $350.

With PSN and PSPlus you are also getting much more value with a price around the PC.

Not to mention the consoles come with a gamepad, further adding value!

PC's you need an OS and a mouse+keyboard ontop of the price of the hardware.

The FUD being thrown around about Xbone at least makes for an entertaining read.

Also, good luck getting anything close to good returns gaming wise for a mere $400.

They usually come with a game and a trail for online.

Funny how these comparisons NEVER include the annual fees you HAVE TO pay to play online. Gaming for 4 years on either console will cost you 200 dollars. I can easily spend those 200 dollars on games I actually want.

The FUD is real. And it's especially disappointing coming from fans. FUD should be a tool for propagandists, not consumers.

@OP: I agree :)

Different strokes for different folks, a PC will also obviously give you access to Steam/Origin and such as well as the games which MS is bringing to Windows 10, I mean at the end of the day it's very hard to point to one piece of hardware and say that is better than something else in all scenarios, heck you can use a PC for virtually anything... but at the same time an X1 is just so much more convenient for just chucking under a tv and popping a game disk in and letting rip in games.

Like I said though, you can't just compare both based on a single list which is important to one person, other people will want different things and choose their gaming choice based on those.

Anything close? Except a 400 dollar PC now can easily be done and top a Xbox or PS4. Just saying.
