From now until August it may be a rough period. From August onwards I think there´s a pretty good lineup on the way.

Ps4 hardware waaaaaaaay up on this week last year. May 2016 has been good to it.

I just noticed in the first 5 months the ps4 has closed the gap on the Wii U by over 400k.

The Wii U number this year vs last year is shocking. It's the week splatoon launched so things won't be pretty going forward.

Dragon quest heroes 2 surpasses expectations. It should be around 450k including digital. With Asian and future western sales added it will be very successful. We should see a DQH3 in future now.

Overwatch doing very good also. What a week, yet another #1 hardware for the ps4 :)))

Gap is down to like 300k now.

Give it 2-3 months time and you should see the PS4 ahead of the Wii U in japan.

PS4 sales still feel so dissapointing. I know the console market became weaker but it took ps2 six months to pass 3 million in Japan and if you would allign the PS4 numbers with PS2 the PS2 would be around the same time close to 10 million sure that includes asia but asia was very weak in sales numbers compared to Japan. Can't see anything positive in it really their are certainly a lot of game releases.

Asia is a bigger market this generation and it's being relied upon to cover a lot to compensate for the drop from Japan.

DQH2 did ok? I still don't think you can say it did well, but not a complete flop.

Oddly enough, the asian market should become greater than the Japanese market in a few years, at least for home consoles. Unless FFXV + Persona 5 and other games bring a phoenix over Japan. Who knows.

We should compare the PS4 with PS3 and maybe Wii in Japan. I can see it doing over PS3 and below the Wii. 

There will be wild celebrations held for sure.  Not since the ps2 days has Sony had a home comsole ahead of Nintendo's in Japan.  That's 10 years of playing second fiddle to the competition.  The days of Sony at the top are almost back!

3DS is coming for you ps2...It will be the 3rd best selling gaming  device in Japan ( I won't say console because we have those guys who say it's only a handheld not console lol, yeah handheld, which is just an attribute/epithet that goes next to a general term to characterize it,   are mobiles, phones? ) , surpassing the almigty ps2, the last 20m+ selling home console of Japan!

PS4 is doing well.hopefully it will get stronger in the second half of 2016.
