Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So i've purchased a 3DS. Any suggestions?

Fire emblem awakening is a no brainer, you should try bravely default as well. Mario Kart 7 for some online entertainment and Legend of Zelda: a link between worlds.

My suggestion is return it and get a vita ;P

Out of the games I have for my 3DS Id recommend, Bravely Default :) people also recommended FE awakening to me and I played it for a while but It was nothing special. I have a couple of other Jrpgs in my collection but I haven't gotten around to trying them since my gf took my 3ds a few months ago to play Pokemon xD

Awesome! Sounds great! Kid Icarus? Hell yes!

You've made a great decision getting the 3ds. I wish I skipped the wii u and got the ps4. Either way, the 3ds keeps me satisfied. It's easily the best handheld made. Add in the fact you can play DS games(which you can get for dirt cheap prices), and you have a legendary device

Im quickly starting to believe I made the right decision as well. The handheld is clearly superior :)

But why? What does the Vita have that the 3DS doesnt outside of the Uncharted game?

Shoulda waited until NX announcement. Who knows, maybe it'll be backwards compatible with both 3DS and Wii U!

The best JRPG ever made is coming out on 3DS soon, Dragon Quest VIII. So get that when it comes out. Shin Megami Tensei IV, SMTIV: Apocolypse, DQ7, Pokemon ORAS, Pokemon S/M, and any of the Zelda and Mario main titles are good

Yeah, Awakening is pretty bad. Get the Fates games if you wanna play FE

There are a ton of great JRPGs on the system: the Pokemon games, Fire Emblem Awakening, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Devil Survivor Overclocked, Etrian Odyssey IV, Stell Glow... And you could always get your fix of old games with the DS library, it's BC.

How many fire emblem games have their been on the 3DS or DS plaforms? If they are good ill start from the old ones then and work my way up. I've missed out on a lot of Nintendo. This has always been a goal of mine. Catching up on worthy platforms, that is.

For DS, there was just Shadow Dragon, which is a remake of the original Fire Emblem for Famicon.  They also remade the second Fire Emblem (Mystery of the Emblem) for DS, but that was only released in Japan.

For 3DS, Fire Emblem: Awakening is an original title, and so is the new one just released this year, Fire Emblem Fates.  The latter is available in two different full-priced editions which show the conflict from two opposing sides (Birthright and Conquest).  Either cartridge can then purchase the other half as DLC, plus there is a third storyline Revelations that can only be purchased as DLC.  Except there is a very rare limited edition whose preorders sold out quickly (and are now $260+ on Amazon, thanks scalpers) which has all three storylines on one cartridge.

Did you have a DS?  If not get the world ends with you, tops any 3DS game.  I haven't seem Luigi's Mansion mentioned yet, one of my favorite 3DS games.  Kirby hasn't been mentioned either, if your a kirby fan then triple delux is a must, if not then I'd skip it.

Ocarina of Time 3D is $20 retail/eshop. Get it for the crazy 3D depth effect (I recommend increasing the effect slowly until you get the hang of it) and the extra mirrored master quest mode.
