Forums - General Discussion - Foxconn replaces '60,000 factory workers with robots

Terrible news for humans, less jobs, economy will take a hit.

This world is going from worse to even worse, what a disgrace of a race we are, i hope aliens kill us soon enough before war takes over the planet, it will not take long enough with such bullshit happening, people aint stupid.

Edit: People saying this is good news, yeah less jobs, less money people will spend elsewhere, economy WW will suffer as a cause and people will get fired due to low sales from many companies wich will be replaced by robots once again and so it continues.

Well this will help lower their employee suicide rates, not to mention theres less slave labour going on there now.
Anyway if you were smart you would be looking into a job building and maintaining said robots. I mean if robots are the future then that seems like a pretty damn important job.

One one side I'm happy because I know that the working conditions at Foxconn are atrocious, on the other hand I'm kinda worried by this whole machines taking man's place after reading both this news and the Mc Donald's one...

Considering how badly foxconn treated their workers I wouldn't be surprised if they push those robots so hard it causes the Robot uprising that will end us all.

Sad to also think that the 60k workers at foxconn no doubt built parts for or the complete robots which will now be replacing them... sad times indeed.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

This is why our monetary system can't last. What happens when most jobs can be automated? Will we all just accept death in the name of capitalism (understanding that China isn't but you get my point). Of course not. When science and tech replaces labor, we will have to give up on our idea of money. It is yet far off bet it is inevitable.

And then you'll be out of a job again in 3-5 years when robots can take care of themselves and each other much better than you ever could do. You'd be better off searching for jobs that for now seem to be out of reach from AI and robots. Though who knows what jobs that will be in 20-30 years. Not many...

Future is exciting.

'Former McDonald's chief executive Ed Rensi recently told the US's Fox Business programme a minimum-wage increase to $15 an hour would make companies consider robot workers.'

Sure, and not increasing minimum wage will totally keep company from choosing robot workers.

Ha.

China is a capitalist country. Actually, they are capitalist as fuck.

What the hell! Chinese already make nothing an hour with their slave labor camps or whatever happens over there. They have 2 billion people to take care of. How will this help?

Makes me want to dump my Samsung if possible.

*edit: Opps your right they make Samsung & apple phones too.

(also Wii U, PS4, XB1)  lmao.

Here we go, lack of human respect and understanding. 60K people out of work. Unable to provide for their families let alone themselves. How cruel and greedy. True, a business is made to make money, not break even. But Foxconn wasn't hurting for money last time I checked.

"It's cheaper to buy a $35,000 robotic arm than it is to hire an employee who is inefficient, making $15 an hour bagging French fries," he said.

Once again, as I posted in a similar thread, thinking this way will destroy the gradient from rich to poor and there will only be rich and poor people. No middle class. And man, what a corrupt world that's gonna be.

How can you be so naive? Do you realize the conditions that these workers were working in? They literally became fucking machines doing these jobs, and it was driving a large portion of the population literally insane. This is a better way. And this is the future.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.
