Yeah I remember the doom here by "experts" like kowen who were doubting Lord Kaz.

Nothing wrong with you disagreeing with Kowen's views, but please don't call people out this way. Makes for a nasty result.

And, in his defense, at one point, things were looking quite grim for the company. Even the most hardened Sony fans should be able to admit that.

You're right, apologies, edited.

It is great to see the Sony (Gaming) division doing so well. It paints a bright future for gaming and gamers. PlayStation is not going anywhere and that is good for gaming.

In Kowen's defense he is spot on when it comes to financials and the information he provided on Sony regarding losses are accurate. Sony is still currently in really bad shape financially but news like this shows they are on the road to recovery.

This is probably due to having more first party titles(in general), and they selling much more units (again, in general) than previous generation.Oh and PS Plus. This thing bring insane amounts of cash.

More like PS Plus/PS Store>>>>>>>>>>>>>>everything else.

Are people just ignoring the fact that they now charge for online as THE major reason for proper profits?

The PS2 era shows perfectly that even when hardware beasts and software sells massively that they alone can never generate huge profits. Gaming had to become a service with repeat income. Charging for online is the start. Wake up.

People only see what they want to see, you know that.

No doubt that the major reason but the ps4 is more cost effective than the ps2, wii dominated the profits of the ps2.

Nintendo fans thought Sony would go bankrupt in 5 years... But Sony is now worth $15 Billion more than Nintendo, and Nintendo has eaten through their Wii war chest.

Yeah, I doubted them so much I made a shit ton of cash from buying their stock at the right time.  I called the bottom almost exactly and people here will remember that and some of them acted on it and also made cash.

What did you do?  Oh yeah, you predicted they would be the 2nd or 3rd largest mobile phone maker based on one quarter.  I said they should exit phones at the same time.  Lets see how that turns out shall we.

I'll take my own advice on stock and company issues if you dont mind and continue to make money.... because where that is concerned my opinion and actions arent coloured by bias.  You are just cheerleading a company exec, which I find odd.

Lol  I remember our little debate about their stock a few years back, no it wasn't you who called the rock bottom, it was me. And uh let's not talk about your Nokia predictions and how they would come back.

Also nothing wrong with proclaiming that Kaz is the lord!

Daniel Loeb still wants to sell off playstation?

Hes probably singing a differnt tune these days.

The service focus (tv & movies, games) just makes alot of sense, to do that you need to have a box inside peoples homes.

(sony already does alot of tv and movie stuff)

Sony is doing great these days, tons of profits and great things incoming!

Such a turn around!

Kaz deserves a lot of credit for the PS4's success, but so do Nintendo and Microsoft heh

Pretty much handed the PS4 this gen on a silver platter with how they handled their two entries... as long as they put forth a decent console that didn't include and stupid gimmicks or consumer-unfriendly features they basically had this gen won.
