Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I think I know what's going on with Zelda U/NX

I wouldn't expect reveals right now, but E3 would fit the general timeframe for console launches to start showing things. I imagine Nintendo will simply have their own announcement well down the road to avoid wasting that publicity of those announcements.

I certainly hope my concerns about keeping some new gimmick hidden aren't validated lol

lol seriously? I had just assumed you weren't gonna respond for a while since you hadn't already so I edited my post with a major point I forgot about, and you reply the very first second afterwards!

But anyway, you're going off base again. I mean I can only assume as much since why would you bring up E3 yourself when it only supports my argument.

What Nintendo did delaying Zelda two years and not released it exclusively on the Wii U as they should is just despicable.

But they themselves said the NX was delayed from late 2016 to early 2017 because they wanted to make sure it had good enough software in it's launch window. If Zelda wasn't going to be ready until around then, that is probably why they delayed it. Zelda is huge, and not just for sales. It's a word of mouth kind of game and it makes the press and critics give it a lot more attention than they would have if they only had something niche like Pikman 4 or Diddy Kong Racing 2 or something.

What if they have finished Zelda U/NX already, and they are just working on other game?

That is a possibility.

They never said they delayed NX. They need more time to prepare NX games, but that doesn't mean they needed more time specifically for Zelda, like I wrote, I am certain that only reason why Zelda is delayed from 2016 is NX launch, I am pretty sure Zelda si almost finished and they just polishing it now and waiting for NX release.

I do believe that they said they initially were projecting to launch in late 2016, but decided to wait until March 2017. I suppose, since it wasn't public knowledge at the time that they were planning on launching in late 2016, that one could argue it wasn't delayed, but it was internally, which is all that matters.

Which can be answered by looking at E3. Why wouldn't the NX be there if it was only a software issue? Games can be shown off at almost any stage in development (Splatoon was 10% when first revealed), consoles however can't.

I think they may be hoping to show an avalanche of cool thinks at once immediately preceding the sale to generate some interest, as if they show it all now it will be old news by the time the holidays are over (and they would still have not sold a thing).

Pretty much the only reason they gave for delaying the Nx past the holidays is that they wanted a strong launch library referencing a lesson they learned from the Wii U, so it's impossible to know what games they're buying extra time for. Either way, Zelda would be delayed so as to provide a game many will want from day 1 on the Nx. Whether Zelda is the game that CAUSED the delay or is merely delayed because some other game wasn't ready, we cannot say.

Personally though, I'm very excited. If you consider both that the only game we even know of is the Zelda game that's not even an exclusive and that they've openly stated their focus is on a quality launch library, there would appear to be a great deal of games that will be released as soon as q1 of next year that have not even been announced yet.

That is exciting to think about!

No, they never said they project late 2016, they just said they relasing NX in march in order to have proper lineup and that is more important than relasing console in holiday season.

It could have been the case. I expect the Wii U version to be a dumbed down simplified and ugly version of Zelda NX. The Wii U shouldn't hold back the main version of Zelda NX.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
