Well, NEO won't be cheap and will help to retain a decent average price even with a price cut for the "normal" PS4.

Which ujs a guess.

But even if that is so it is offset by the loss in profit from dying (very proifitable) PS3 related sales.

I dont see a ps4 price cut of any significance.  Why would they?  Thats old Sony trhinking, they have wised up.

Services tied to the PS4.

PS vue, PS Now, PS Plus ect.

The more consoles in consumers hands, the better they ll do from services, not to mention game sales.

If the PS4k is really just 399$ (rumor), then the normal PS4, will need a price drop as well, to have a place on the market.

Haveing a 399$ PSK4 (neo) and a 299$ PS4 (norm version) will have a impact on the sales of PS4 this year.

Its going to be up, and so far they are 11.8% up YOY, if that trend holds that alone should put them close to 20m.

Can't wait for E3.

Eh, we will see. I'm guessing they expect PSNEO to be a big success to push it to that point. Console gamers having adopted paying a subscription to play games online, I have no faith in the intelligence of the average consumer... So I also won't be surprised if it happens and it pushes them to 20. Oh well, what can you do. I'll just continue and hope PSNEO does terribly if it's exactly what it appears it may be thus far.

Oh, and going off the notes to the slide, the revenue and OI numbers I'd expect any price cut to be small.

Expect a 299e Ps4 this e3 or TGS i guess...

Lol.... same trick again. Low ball expectations so when they are exceeded it looks like they are doing better than they actually are.

With PSVr, Inevitable price cut.....etc, its kinda obvious they are going to hit 20M+. Last fiscal year they did what? 16M? 18M?

Are you kidding me?

It looks like they are doing better than they actually are

If they do those numbers, no matter what they were expecting, they are doing freaking good. ¬_¬

So that's ~58M by Dec 31 2016, and ~60M by March 2017, if they don't exceed their expectations which they always have so far.

A pricecut to $299, maybe even $279 of the base model, and PS4Neo at $399, which is probably gonna sell out like the og PS4.

PS4 is selling more every year and already did ~18M on its own so whether Neo launches or not it was gonna come close to 20M either way in a year it's finally getting all the games. Neo will do amazing on its own and add to the total of its older brother.

That would be crazy!!!
I hope that it will happen for Playstation 4 because it really deserves it!!!

There should be YoY growth up to this third full year, so I expect 20 million. The question is whether they can plateau and get 20 million 2 years in a row or whether hardware will start to decline. I imagine if Sony is expecting to do this short cycle hardware refresh thing as a long term strategy they will be looking for early PS4 buyers to upgrade to Neo as well as later gen adpoters and then in 2 or 3 years the PS4 NNeo will do the same thing, and by the time the PS4 NNNeo comes out any remaining PS4 og owners will feel like it's time to upgrade and also the PS4 Neo owners will be feeling like an upgrade is justified. So from NNNeo onwards you have a continuous cycle of people upgrading at probably a rate of 15 to 20 million per year ongoing. At least I reckon that's what Sony would like to have happen. I think if VGC wants to stay in the counting game and Sony is successful with this strategy VGC is going to have to count each Neo generation separately, otherwise "PS4" will eventually sell hundreds of millions, but not in the normal sense.

I dont think 2016 is the peak yet.

2017 will be slightly higher, after that it ll probably decline (end of 2017, we re talking 80m+ sold through).

Also I dont think theres a next PS4 after the neo one.

They ll call whatever comes after the PS4k (neo) the Playstation 5.
