Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gran Turismo Sport Will Have Damage and Weather; Polyphony Optimizing for 60 FPS

Yesterday we saw quite a lot of Gameplay of the upcoming GT Sport, but since competitors did not have time to train with the new tracks and cars, there was quite a lot of bumping. Yet, no damage was seen. Luckily, this is going to change.

Producer Kazunori Yamauchi mentioned in an interview on Game Watch that the game has a damage system that already works internally, but it simply wasn’t activated in the build shown in London (which isn’t too surprising, because if it was, very few would have gotten to the finish line on the Nürburgring Nordschleife).

We also learn that the  inclusion of weather is planned, but this time around Polyphony Digital isn’t going to implement dynamic weather, and we’ll be able to select it at the start of the race. This decision was taken because dynamic weather involves a trade off in terms of quality, and the development team decided to prioritize quality this time around.

We also learn that the team is still targeting the 1080p and 60 frames per second combination. Yet, since currently there are areas in which frame rate drops, the objective for future development is to optimize the game in order to have a stable frame rate at 60 FPS.

That would have made for a very interesting show though lol.

Also, wasn't there this huge debate about manufactures not liking damage on their car models?  I can understand this but it more about realism though.

Most definitely would have changed the outcome of 2nd of 3rd positions of the final. Both likely would have finished in the last two positions or not at all.

Sounds like they are targeting things we expected.

Shame the beta is cancelled but clearly its not in a state they are happy with.

GT5 and 6 had damage. The question is whether is the damage modeling is worth a shit in GTS, because it was not in those two games. We'll see I guess. I hope large improvements have been made.

No dynamic weather? Going backwards sigh. This gen should have let you select the season and real time weather updates which was in Flight simulator 2004 already. There's no strategy in static weather.

This is basically a ps3 game being remastered for the ps4.... it looks on par with gt5 which was 1080p 60fps

People need to learn what an early build is, that trailer one was already old, the one at the event newer but still an early build (it's half a year away from release ffs), of course there will be going to have more and better stuff.

PD should just implement a full campaign mode, rename it GT7 and that alone would make people look for it as it was an actual new GT and be more on touch with what they say.

That's crazy talk.  If something isn't in an old built 6 months before release then there is no way it can be in the game at launch.  Did you not see that grass?  It would take at least a year to fix that grass.

I dunno. GT used to be a graphical showcase on PS1 and PS2. Nowadays it seems more focussed on being the best simulator because Forza just looks better graphically to me. Nothing wrong with that.

So much for that concern trolling.
