Forums - General Discussion - So I "lost" my job today

Sounds like it was for the better. Hope you find a good place to work at.

Doesn't the management or the HR department realize that the way these 4 people treat outsiders is problematic?

I hope they do now because they asked for my feedback and boy did I give some feedback. I am very sure that they're well aware of their predicament. Sadly they can't just simply can those guys since they've been there since the very early days of the company and they basically run the place, for better or worse. Even worse, each of them are in different fields that can't be immediately replaced by their colleagues. So my superiors are basically without alternative. I'm just another casualty after my previous colleague whom I replaced after he quit because of similar reasons.

If the new guy they higher isn't somehow immune against bullshit and has the chops to bitchslap those guys it will probably end similarly.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Good luck using those references to find a good job. The people at my work are great and it's one of the many reasons I'm still here. I don't like the IT industry as a whole, being busy at work means I don't understand new technologies or processes our company has adopted. I have no desire to learn Razor and never will honestly. Front end web dev for life it seems (just wish HTML and CSS would stop changing too).

Hmm, pie.

I quit the last job I had while a produce clerk. The boss was an abusive prick, not to just me but everyone. He'd yell and throw boxes and items in the backroom. Cuss out employees, not in a playful way but because he was just pissed. Couldnt request days off till you were 6 months in and he changed the schedule daily. So if you thought you were off, you better as go to work and check to make sure he didnt last minute change it because he would. I remember baby sitting and then having to leave because they changed the schedule that morning -how was I supposed to know they rescheduled me?! x.x
I eventually tried quitting but they said I wasnt allowed to quit so I walked out of the store on their busiest day and never came back

Good luck!

But also lucky timing if you're playing games like UC4 and Valkyria Chronicles Remaster =P

It does sound like it was for the best in the long run. I've personally found that a great job can be ruined by awful coworkers, while even a bad job can be made fun if your team is great. Coworkers really make a huge difference.

Anyways, glad to see you're keeping a positive attitude. Good luck finding your next job!

Your avi was made for this thread

Losing a job is just an opportunity to find a better one. I've worked all over the country from Maine to California. When a job goes belly up, I usually pack up and move somewhere new. I actually like moving around and get sick of living in the same place too long.

Enjoy your extended vacation time.
