Ya, i dont expect your average Joe to be excited for two letters, obviously the only people interested in a device that hasnt been shown yet are internet nerds.

How much hype is there for PS4 Neo currently? Not much outside of nerds on gaming forums, do you know why? Because its a yet to be revealed device which average people have no clue even exists.

Edit: Also is Nintendo really being that secretive? NX is releasing next March, that is 10 months away. Neither PS4 nor Xbox One had been revealed at this point. PS4 was revealed 9 months from launch and Xbox One 6 months from launch. A reveal between July & September would be right in line with those two products.

There's more hype for PS4.5 than there is for NX and NX has been known about for much longer. There was more hype for PS4 and Xbox one before they were ever revealed, than there is for NX currently.

1) Your statements are based on what data?

2) Let's go with it regardless. Slightly more average Joes on the street are aware of the unavailable and yet-to-be revealed PS4 Neo than the unavailable and yet-to-revealed NX. Is that really a huge deal right now?

Actually, yes i do. I'm pretty unconvinced they will even make the march release.

This is the same debate we had before about the release date. You guys think this is all easy and fast to do. It can't be farther from the truth. Nintendo isn't "holding off", Nintendo is doing it has fast as they can. These things take alot of planning and preparation. It would be more accurate to say they are "rushing it".

If you don't think they could have things ready to show by E3 I would just say I disagree.

Yeah... they would have bad rushed footage that looked terribly unfinished. That would've helped! /rolleyes

Disagree all you want. You have to base your deductions on plausability. They are not ready. That is why they aren't showing it. Remember they even promised to show it at E3 this year? You think they pulled it out for no good reason? Cmon...

So Pikmin 4  (which has supposedly been done for the past year) isn't ready to show? Or Zelda NX which they've had to have been working on the NX version since at least last year) isn't? What about that Retro game they've been working on since.... 3 or 4 YEARS now. Or third party games, you know they can show the PC version, Xbone, or PS4 version or whatever architecture is the closest (the game won't be built from the ground up on NX anyways and also is a practice that is done ALL THE TIME). Yeah, they got absolutely nothing they could show /rollseyes.

This would make sense if they spent more time polishing, but they are not. Therefore the games and videos either look unfinished or they don't. Either way they still should show things at E3. It's not like 1-2 months will be a game changer in the way they show things

Excellent point.

I'm gonna say helpful. Why? Because a company wouldn't waste these important release times and info revealing points, for no reason. The NX games are in no shape to be shown. Can you imagine revealing the system. And only have one or two games there.

I'd agree if NX got delayed by a year.  But the release got 3-4 months pushed back, so it sounds more of a manufacturing issue, and/or possibly some things to finalize in sw. Nintendo just chose to bypass E3 and avoid press competition.  If NX games cannot be shown due to lack of progress like you claim, then we are talking a holiday '17 release at the earliest.

Exactly, in a console's general life cycle we'd be a year and a half away (holiday 2017), and they'd STILL be showing off the NX at E3. This whole "it isn't ready" thing doesn't add up at all.

I think they're not at E3 because Sony/MS take too much of the attention. They've been gradually backing away from the show anyway the last few years.

They'll probably have their own event in August.

It's hurtfull. For the same reasons it's been hurtfull to show nothing about the new Zelda game. How are people supposed to get excited if we know nothing about the thing? How can they expect people to save money for a thing they never saw? How do they expect them to preorder the thing? Do they even have any brains on these marketing teams? Or do Nintendo's higher up simply choose to ignore them? What kind of marketing team chosses to make sure no one know a thing about their products, leaving to speculation, for as long as they can possibly make?

Consoles are'nt cheap, ppl need to save money and preorder. They also need time to really think about it and convince themselves to buy. Most people don't make the decision to buy a 300 or 400$ video game machine overnight.

Also, at E3, the whole world will be talking video games, with nintendo being completly out of the worldwide conversations, putting more weight on them being irrelevant opinion.

Who knows too maybe the NX does have new controller "innovations"/"novelties that they are concerned could be copied before they get their product to market (like the N64 analog stick was). Now I certainly hope Nintendo is betting the farm on a controller again, but if its in addition to solid hardware and the option of traditional controls too, I would be OK with it.
