Forums - Gaming Discussion - Doom review copies won’t be available until launch day - No early reviews

From IGN:

We know you depend on IGN for timely reviews of all the biggest games, but unfortunately we will not be able to provide a Doomreview ahead of or at launch on May 13 – because we won’t have played it yet. When declining our request for pre-release review copies, a Bethesda representative provided the following official statement:

“DOOM is a robust game comprised of a single-player campaign, online multiplayer, and SnapMap. We believe all three elements are important parts of the complete DOOM experience, and are meant to be experienced as part of a complete package. As DOOM’s SnapMap and multiplayer modes both require access to a server that won’t be live prior to launch, review copies will arrive on launch day.”

So we won’t get to play Doom until you do, but we’ll do everything we can to make sure our review is up as soon as possible. In the meantime, take a look at our latest Doom preview coverage.

Does not having reviews up prior to a games release bother you?

Will you wait to see the reviews before buying or are you planning to buy it or already have it pre-ordered?

Myself  I just buy the games if its soemthing I like and not really bothered if reviews are out ahead of time but I know there is probably a large group of people who buy based on reviews.

LOL! Bad game incoming! All aboard the shit train, CHOO CHOOOOO!

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Might as well make signs saying: "Our game sucks!" They know they put in stuff that Doom fans are gonna really hate.

I've started having flashbacks of Doom 3.

Pixel Art can be fun.

AKA Dont buy on Day 1
I know it doesnt always spell bad news for a game, but its enough to put doubt into everyones minds.

Doesn't really show much of the publisher's faith in the game now does it?

Odd when I think of Doom 3 I would have paid for flashs of anything... some light really can make a game playable at times :D

Also fucking lol, you know they are worried the reviewers will take the game apart and cost them sales when they don't give out review copies, 60+ positive reviews of Uncharted before the game is in stores will do wonders for its first week sales, refusing to give review copies is the same for most people as a review of 0% because the dev know how badly it would review.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Nothing quite says "we have a mediocre game" like embargoing reviews until the release date.
