Wait, it is? Source?

He isnt lying in terms of good quality. i dont watch it all exactly but what i cantell the anime is absolutely great. From animations to story/filler etc. Not to mention spin off mega evolution specials now mix in the anime. This might be where the main character might actually win the league too xD

Oh, I thought in terms of ratings. As for quality, it's hard to take it seriously with Ash not aging at all, and pikachu being unable to beat weak pokemon after all that training. Ash also seems to lose his abilities as a trainer randomly, which makes it impossible for me to watch. Then again I haven't watched it in ages so maybe it got better, but I doubt it.

The majority of that revenue is from merchandise sold in Japan, yearly games certainly help promote that merchandise though.

tecnically speaking it's possible for someone to buy out the Pokémon IP, the only problem is that ALL the pokémon names, items, characters etc. are filled under copyright by Nintendo, so whoever wanted to buy it would end up with a  title that has near to 0 content to it...

That... seems strange. The whole point of the Pokemon Company is to be a holding company for the brand, so why aren't the copyrights registered to them?

dunno but it's one of the few information that we know of the current situation with Pokémon. I see The Pokémon Company as the company involved in advertising, translations and merchandising while Game Freak develops the games and Nintendo publishes them...

Well the Pokemon Company website says they are involved in licensing the franchise and quite clearly states 'was established through joint investment by the three businesses holding the copyright on Pokémon: Nintendo Co., Ltd., Creatures Inc., and GAME FREAK inc.' https://www.pokemon.co.jp/corporate/en/history/

To me that says those three companies jointly own the copyright to Pokemon and that it isn't 100% Nintendo.

yeah, but the 33% of Nintendo includes as I previously said the names of the Pokémon themselves aswell as items etc.

Pokemon always gets good ratings in japan, like Detective Conan or One Piece level. And the quality hasn't changed. I'm watching XY and it's the same from 10 years ago.. so yeah

I guess it depends on perspective. Ash is more competent now. Just yesterday, he almost beat Diantha's Mega evolved Gardevoir with Ash Greninja. Serena seems to have taken a much more realistic approach as she started out not really knowing what she wanted to do (which is true for most people growing up). The battle animations are much better compared to previous seasons and the main characters are getting more fleshed out.

It actually has gotten so much better. Unfortunately BW kind of killed a really good series. (DP) But XY does the anime so much better in general. It also has some of the most interesting fights in the series. Ash isnt stupifyied luke he was last gen lol

Gen 4 had best league and gen 6 is best overall imo. Definetly not the same. Ironically gen1 was by far the worse in terms of how things wrnt with gyms (like ash gets half of the badges without actually battling/winning)

Oh yeah, the animation is better for the most part. But for me it's still the same lol don't know about the last season that's airing now.

You're right. I just checked. Not One Pience level, but top 10 which sure is impressive. I guess it's just not that popular in the rest of the world. When I was a teenager everyone was watching Pokemon.
