I think if the PS4 NEO launched this year its a big mistake on Sony's part and they could potentially find themselves with the weakest spec console by 2017 depending on what specs the NX launches with and Microsoft deciding to go for a 4 year trigger to start a Xbox Two for holiday 2017 release. PS4 NEO isn't needed and they would sell the same amount of console this year if it launches or not and if anything it could be a negative and cause themselves some bad PR and unhappy early adopters.

NX as new hardware will always be more relevant than a new upgrade model.

I suspect both Nintendo and MS will be kicking themselves a little for not beating Sony to the VR race in the future. I think that's going to be the big new thing of this generation.

I doubt vr is taking off. There are many hurdles it has to conquer before becoming "the thing"

LoL, what is the problem with those people ?. someone can explain how a slightly stronger version of the PS4, can be more Relevant than a entire new Console ?.

But... it's just a PS4. It's not going to be some brand new, generational leap. It's not a PS5. It's going to be a par for the course, stay on the beaten path product. NX is going to be something brand spankin' new. The updated PS4 will be current gen and NX will be next gen.

yes Nintendo fans are a dying breed hence why their franchises are selling as well as they did 15 years ago.

The console sales are poor though, what he's saying is that even if there is a lot of discussion about NX on VGC it may not be hyped much outside of forums.

 

To OT Its not about PS4 Neo vs NX, its about PS4 + PS4 Neo vs NX, as PS4 and Neo will play the same games hence people will upgrade to Neo to continue playing GTA V and COD with their friends having PS4, the better performance will just make it last longer than base PS4 which I think may be discontinued in the future. As all current PS4 games will be compatible with Neo and perform better people would see more value in upgrading to Neo than buying a new console entirely and having to get rid of games they play.
