Found this podcast on youtube, the first half hour is a disscussion about the ps4.5, the discussion gets going from around the five minute mark. Apparently you will only be able to play movies in 4k but not your games. It's an interesting listen but it might piss off some sony fanboys because they are very critical.

Sony made their console too weak?

I will wait to see what the 4.5 really is before I make a judgement, but if it looks like something that will be a required purchase to enjoy new games I am not happy. If it simply up scales content to 4K I can live with that, it will be the sort of thing that if you have a 4k tv you will want to get, but if not it wont matter.

I think it can go both ways. This could go very well for Sony, or can back fire in their face.
If by any chance the NX is a 4K system and has a strong launch line up.... Sony will have some competition and some pissed off fans might look the other way. Especially, if Sony is only going to use some games to fully take advantage of upscaling to 4K. Rumors point to God of War 4 and Eve Valkyrie as possibilities. Part of me wants to say that Sony is just going for full 4K video playback and the extra power will aid the PS VR.

If either rumors were to be correct. Sony and Nintendo will have some interesting competition with each other. It'll be the late 90's all over again. I'm curious as to where Microsoft would stand in this battlefield.

But I don't care about whether the hardware is best or not, etc. I bought my PS4 and I'll be playing it until the new next gen consoles release around 2020....unless it stops working then I'll buy a newer version. I'm not getting screwed.

Lol at all the people and media thinking the "PS4K"(or the NX for that matter) will output gaming visuals at ultra-high definition resolution. The thing would have to cost well over $1,000US and that is a conservative estimate. Try building a PC capable of playing games in 4K(not 1440P but true 4k as in 3840 pixels × 2160P) for under $1,000US, it can't be done. The GPUs alone would cost more than that.
