Forums - Movies & TV - Deadpool is Now The Highest-Grossing R-Rated Film of All Time

No surprise, Deadpool was obviously gonna translate well into a movie and there were plenty of people hyped for it since they knew Ryan Reynolds was gonna be a perfect fit. Now all we need to do is see how they'll do Cable in the 2nd one...

Fox's Deadpool has broken more boundaries than just the fourth wall, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time

According to Box Office Mojo (as reported by The Guardian), Deadpool has now taken $745m in box office earnings worldwide, surpassing previous long-time record holder, The Matrix Reloaded's $742m.

The film had already broken the record for the biggest R-rated opening weekend, and is now the eighth biggest comic book adaptation in US box office takings.

Who didn't see this coming?

Fox.  They fought this for years and it was only after Reynolds leaked test footage that led to fan response did they finally give in to the idea.

The irony... If it hadnt been for Reynolds they would have missed out on so much $.

Fox finally makes Deadpool in 2016. Somehow, someone thought making 2 fantastic four movies before deadpool makes sense.

C'mon fox, you're better than that.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Funny how that its the most infantile and moronic ''r'' rated movie to do so well.

Thanks comic book fans.

I guess cinema will never see R Rated movies of the same caliber of The Gladiator and The Excorcist. Nope, bring on more dick jokes, men twirling around in the air like ballerinas but still shooting dual handguns with pinpoint accuracy and men getting but fucked by women in strap-ons. .

Worse is how everyone wants all movies to be rated R...ugh.

"The Room" was a great rated R movie. I actually chose to ignore Deadpool(too many dick/butt jokes) and watch that instead- it was an amazing movie(especially the plot).

I won't be stuckup and hate on Deadpool, but the people thinking nothing should be PG-13 are clearly out of their minds. I don't want to see the Avengers rated R cause the Black Widow and Hulk have kinky human-monster sex

Guys, it was only R-Rated in the US.

Great film, it deserved the success.

In any case, hundreds of millions of marketing made this juvenile, made-for-teens movie successful.

Good. This movie is excellent. It deserves all the praise it gets.

Money spent on marketing is not a guarrantee for success. Besides, are you even familiar with Deadpool?
