According Wikipedia:

Microsoft
Defunct First-Party - Total: 8

  • Aces Studio – Microsoft Flight Simulator series
  • Digital Anvil – Brute Force, Freelancer
  • Ensemble Studios – Age of Empires series, Halo Wars
  • FASA Studio – MechWarrior series, Shadowrun
  • Hired Gun – Halo 2 for Windows Vista
  • Lionhead Studios – Fable series, Black & White series
  • Microsoft Game Studios Japan – Magatama, Phantom Dust

That said, I'll mention that feelplus and Hudson Soft weren't closed by MS...

Nope its not really a big loss since the last good game they made is Fable II.  Team Bondi being dismantled after just one game is a much bigger loss L.A. Noire sold better then any game ever published by Lionhead Studios.

In your opinion. Mine is different. There is certainly talent at Lionhead.

A lot of that talent left a long time ago heck even the founder Peter Molyneux alread left in 2012.

Defunct Second-Party - Total 8

  • Artoon – Blinx series, Blue Dragon
  • Bizarre Creations – Project Gotham Racing series
  • Carbonated Games – Hexic series
  • feelplus – Lost Odyssey
  • Game Republic – Every Party
  • Hudson Soft – Fuzion Frenzy 2
  • Realtime Worlds – Crackdown
  • Southend Interactive – Lode Runner 2009, ilomilo

Sony
Closed studios - Total: 5

  • 989 Studios
  • BigBig Studios
  • Incognito Entertainment
  • Studio Liverpool
  • Zipper Interactive

Nintendo
Errr... - Total: Why Nintendo? Why?

  • Not buying Rare when they should?
  • Not buying Hudson Soft when they should?
  • Not buying Atlus when they should?
  • Haven't bought Sega, yet, for some reason.

Lost Odyssey was mainly developed by Mistwalker, feelplus only had a minor role plus they weren't second party when they went under since the last two games they worked on MindJack and Moon Diver where multi platform.  The main writer of the game is Hironobu Sakaguchi the founder of Mistwalker.  Artoon and feelplus didn't really go out of business along with Cavia they got absorbed into AQ Interactive in 2010.  Realtime Worlds wasn't second party when it went out of business either they went of out buisness when APB: All Points Bullentin made under EA bombed for the PC.  Hudson Soft should really be on that list either the majority of its titles (over 98%) where made for other platforms plus they aren't the original developer of Fusion Frenzy that would be Blitz Games.

Plus the majority of titles developed by Hudson Soft wheren't developed for MS consoles since they started in 1973 already.
