Forums - Microsoft - Warning Gears of War Ultimate Edition (W10) is a MESS!

  • No multi-GPU support, SLI or Crossfire.
  • R9 290x outperforms R9 Nano.
  • R9 Nano and R9 380 experience terrible artifacting at high settings.
  • R9 Nano unplayable at 1440p and 4k due to stuttering/stalling.
  • Nvidia GSync support is broken.
  • Frame Rate is not Uncapped, when “Unlocked” it will not exceed your monitor’s refresh rate
  • Stutter on AMD and NVidia cards being reported
  • AMD being reported as unplayable in some sections
  • Artifacts happening on both Nvidia and AMD (graphic oddities)
  • Reports and videos of people falling through the ground. (Verified by users on VGChartz)
  • Pop-In bug which make it worse than the Xbox One version (Restarting the game is a temp fix)
  • Intel Internal Graphic major issues reported (Laptop)
  • Full-screen mode exclusively (No option for windows mode)
  • W10 Store still has no plans for mod support (This game would be great with mods, heck mods might even fix some of the problems)
  • Ambient Occlusion: “There are visual issues with AMD graphics cards and the Ambient Occlusion setting, it is strongly recommended to turn this setting OFF
  • Nvidia’s 980 Ti is also exhibiting stuttering and hitching issues
Technical websites are reporting saying these are developer issues as time goes on. Which proves that portin is not as easy and cheap as people are lead to believe.

Some things worth mentioning added to the article:

"First of all the game is an absolute stuttering mess that’s almost mistakable for a powerpoint slide show on several excellent high performance AMD Radeon cards for which running this game should otherwise be an absolute breeze."

Sadly what we ended up with is “one of the most disastrous PC game launches in years” writes Forbes’s Jason Evangelho

Note this started out as a post where I was asking if CrossFire is finally supported in W10 games.  I found the answer myself, and have to say it is dissapointing. No GSync either.  *sigh*

This is NOT how you win over PC gamers.

Damn. Most of these issues won't affect me, but that's still a sorry state to launch a game in.

Also, what's exclusive fullscreen?

What graphic card do you use? There is noticable stutter being reported for both Nvidia and AMD right now. AMD being reported as unplayable.

Windows mode allows you to use a second monitor by simply scrolling to it. Fullscreen only doesn't give that luxury. There are other resons you might want Windowed mode, but I like having access to the extra real estate at all times. Microsoft W10 games not supporting Window mode, is ironic.

And this is why you game on consoles.... sh*t like this dont happend on consoles (okay it does.. but not near anywhere as bad).

Too many PC games are broken messes.

Ah, I get you. I don't typically run in windowed mode, but borderless windowed mode comes in handy a lot with MMO's.

I'm running a gtx960. Exceeding my monitors refresh rate on this thing is a mere dream.

Yeah running into issues already the game stutters like hell and I have this annoying shit up on screen the whole time.

This is one of the reasons why I quit PC gaming recently. I was tired as fuck to try making the games run properly and some of them were a waste of money. Even with Steam refunding, I'm just tired this gen of bad, shitty ports.

Clever MS. Make the PC version a disaster so that people feel then enticed to get the console version. Double-sales!

All the techno babble about what graphic card it works with or not, is why I always choose console over PC. I want to play games, not worry about whether or not my graphics card, processor or ram will match up with the specs. Still, a piss poor job by MS with porting this game.

I don't understand anything about that tech stuff in the OP and that's pretty much the reason why I think console exclusivity is relevant and MS isn't dropping console business 😁

Sad to hear Gears is a mess though, I love the franchise..
