Forums - General Discussion - UN Challenging Japan’s Treatment of Women, Suggests Ban of Erotic Japanese Games

Ban all violence against cartoon characters. Why isolate the female characters again. UN is sexist.

My god, does the UN has nothing to do?

First of all, its fictional charachters. You may not like it, but its not breaking any laws.Secondly, as bizarre as it sounds, its a cultural thing. The same way that many thing that westerns do must sound weird to japanese, many cultural aspects they have are strange for us.

Political correctness and extremist feminists are getting out of hand.

It's not that they have nothing to do, it's that they suck at tackling actual issues, like genocide in Africa.

Why stop there?Ban all porn sites in the world.Im pretty sure the videos those sites have are far worse than what "women" "suffer" in some japanese games

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I don't think very highly of those who make and/or enjoy games like Rapelay but I don't believe in banning them. There's a megaton of issues regarding the treatment of women out there that are more important than this.

Porn is pretty well regulated already. Yet nobody bat an eye at blowing up Wile E Coyote and hurting poor Sylvester and Tom on a daily basis. It hurt my feelings as a child! All that senseless violence. No wonder we deal with terrorists nowadays. Ban Disney!

As a Christian gamer, I support the idea of less lust in video games.  That said, the UN's position on this issue is clearly the result of radical feminist ideology and this is only the start of what's to come.  Pretty soon, female protagonists will be mandated and any male characters will be bumbling baffoons who can't do anything without a woman around.

Gamers are going to soon figure out the same thing that Christians already know:  the ruling left-wing elite are not on your side.

UN is a joke. Is the UN being run by feminazis now? Lots of hilarious suggestions/recommendations lately...

Ok, feminists, you had your fun, but it has gone far enough. Leave japan alone for fuck's sake! They're the only ones who are allowed to have some fun anymore! Seriously, I don't even dare to speak to women anymore because I always have in mind that it might be sexist and the whole world will hate me when I wish a good day or something... =P

It's just some video games for crying out loud! And where should you draw the line? So abusing women isn't ok in games, but shooting civilians in Grand Theft Auto is perfectly fine? Torturing people, mass genocide in Call of Duty? Nuclear attacks on other people and whatnot. Whatever you can think of, it has been done in a game. So where exactly should we draw the line? Please, tell me. The way I see it, we either ban everything or nothing.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

UN is becoming a joke. There is a global porn industry ranging from just visual to harcore and this is the best they can do?!

The rape rate in Japan is about 1.8 per 100,000. So, I'm not sure why we would focus on Japan.

Of course, the UN doesn't exactly have the authority to do much of anything in this case except say "BAD JAPAN!!! STOP THAT!"
