I dont agree, her whole point seems to be that you can look for the answers on Google, but thats YOUR fault, and that comparison with Portal is poor, she says you at least need some skills on Portal but... is that even relevant? Once you know the solution to a puzzle in Portal the skills required are just insignificant for the most part.

The Witness is a good game imo, smart puzzles, good feeling of wonder, beutiful artstyle... if you dont like it is not because "you dont get it dude" its just not your kind of game and thats ok.

This post pretty much sums up what I wanted to say.

I am sick and tired of people complaining about indie games as being pretentious, artsy or simply a walking simulators. You dont like it, dont get it. I dont like football simulators, tough I admire their quality when someone actually takes the time and explains them to me. WIll I play them afterwards? No. But that doesnt mean that I cannot value quality, simply because it is not my cup of tea.

You dont get the puzzles, or the meaning of the game. Mybe it has no meaning for you then, doesnt mean that someone else might not enjoy it, or actually remain with more then a high score.

Couldn't agree more!

It's a game you need to play to understand that it's definitely more than some ''mobile puzzle game in a 3D world''. Many people enjoyed the game, so perhaps it's a good game for its genre? However, some people can't accept that. I'm not the person to review a shooter or sports simulator, as those are not my types of games, but I won't downplay those games, because I don't like them. If it's not your type of game, move on and buy something else.

What a dumbell - here's a clue lady: this is a game in niche genre that's been existing for 20+ years and it's aimed at people who actually like this type of games.

Seriously, seriously tired of people who think all games should cater to everyone. If puzzle games aren't your thing, why the fuck would you have bought The Witness? It's not like they've kept exactly what the game would be like a secret.

I also hate the idea of 'X is 15 years too late' who the fuck made anyone the arbiter of what kind of game, should exist at what period in time?

Ah, that would be me. In my defense, someone stole my bag with the Arbiter badges, so it's not like I personally authorized each and every arbiter out there. But I'll still take the L on this one.

That was actually rhetorical, because nobody has that right.  Creators create the games they want to make.  Everyone else can buy or not.  The market will choose.

No no, I'm telling you, I am the person who has that right. It's me. I am the person who makes others the arbiter of what game should exist when, amongst many other things.

The only person(s) who have that right, are the individuals making the game themselves.  Everyone else is quite literally irrelevant.

I agree, because it has let many of the lessons of the last 15 years go past it.

There's too many rough edges for me to like it.

I tried to watch the video but the voice was too annoying.

On another note, I was disappointed so far with what I have played of the game. It's perhaps gone for too old school, there seems to be nothing going on to push me further into the game.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!
