Forums - Gaming Discussion - How will this rig fare?

Building a new rig and haven't done so in a while. For all you hardware tech savy  gamers out there, how will this rig fare on modern games?

CPU:

Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz LGA 1151

MOBO:

ASUS Republic of Gamers Z170 Express Maximus VIII

GFX:

ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 980 Ti

MEM:

G.Skill TridentZ Series 16 GB 288-pin DDR4 3400

Im thinking a mid tower with 600W PS. total build is ~ $1,700. I wanna game at 1080P plus, 60 FPS with max settings fyi.

Edit: Also if anyone knows of a site other than the common ones (Newegg, tigerdirect, microcenter) where i can find deals, it would be appriciated.

For that, I'd probably go with a Full. That's a pretty solid rig!

Also, don't forget about Amazon for deals, as well.

Im assuming that is for heat purposes? What kind of heat sink would you recomend if i do not plan on overcolocking?

Nice build. A bit overkill for 1080p gaming, but what way it will last a bit longer.

From your choosed CPU I get that you won't overclock, right? In that case, an air cooler like CoolerMaster's Hyper 212 will be more than enough.

Also, there are several tools to find out where your components are cheaper like http://pcpartpicker.com or https://pchound.com

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Just pony up the money and get the 6700K

If you want 1080p 60fps, just make it a 980 it'll do all that under max settings for cheaper.

yeah but i wanna kinda of "future" proof it. I was thiinking one 980 Ti now and when NVIDA drops the 1000 series grab another 980 Ti on the cheap.

Lookin' Good! Also, awesome to see you went with a Full and my CPU Cooler!

yeah, i wanna make sure i can handle another gpu and some overclocking in the future, your recommendation of the water cooler and full tower combo should assist in facilitating that.

Looks good to me man. Better then my now two year old rig.
