Forums - Gaming Discussion - Could an EA-Console be sucessfull?

Would it sell well?

Yes, Ps4 level 8 6.56%

Yes, Ps4 level but only in europe 3 2.46%

Yes, but no Ps4 level (will sell like xbone) 11 9.02%

No, it will sell like the wii u 40 32.79%

No, it wont sell more then 1m lifetime 49 40.16%

Results 11 9.02%

Total:122

This is just hypothetical. Assuming, they would keep all their licenses for a t least 5 years.

What do you think? If all ea games would be exclusive to this console. No ea games on any other console anymore.

Im personally not a big fan of EA (mods pls dont ban me because of gave my opinion), but i know many people, exspecially in europe, that are huge fifa fans. Fifa is very, very popular in european countrys like germany. Many people just got an console to play fifa. They have no/almost no other games.

Fifa 16 sold 655k Lifetime so far in germany only on ps4.

230k on ps3, 94k Xbone and 75k x360.

There is almost no competition, PES isnt popular and dont have many official licenses. PES 2016 (ps4) sold just 50k in germany.

As an comparison, even mario kart 8 (wii u´s biggest title) just sold 150k in germany. And Fifa is an annual title, released 5 month ago.

There are also other EA games for sure. They got extremly popular licenses (Star Wars) and much other very popular sport games, battlefield, mass effect, dragon age and much more.

So I think those people would really get an "EA console" instead of the current popular systems and it could be an sucess.

Your opinion?

It would sell worse than the WiiU and the Vita which would be a all time new record.

I doubt that. Games like fifa are already more popular then nintendos games (mario kart, smash, super mario). They have an extreme big range in the casual market.

If they went exclusive many, if not all, of their sports licenses would probably get cancelled. The same goes for Star Wars and any other licensed property they work with.

So no, I don't think their console would sell all that well. Maybe better than the Wii U because they'd get more third party games, but not better than PS4 and probably the XBO.

It won't do well because at some point in the development of the console or shortly after, EA's greed will get the best of 'em and ruin any chance of selling with gamers.

No.

There are a lot of reasons, but the biggest is the licensing deals they have.

The licensees want their games to be playable to as many as possible. I'm actually fairly certain that EA is actually required to try Madden at least once on every system to see if there is a market before they dismiss it.

If EA only put games on their own console, the NFL, NHL, and Fifa would have their lawyers filing suits to get out of their contracts faster than you could say concussion. Same thing goes for any other licensed product they have. Disney doesn't want to limit Star Wars to a niche audience.

Such a wonderful console would certainly sell gangbusters! Make it happen, EA!

well just imagine they would keep all their licenses. This isnt real anyway.

scince this is only hypotetical anyway, lets say they would keep all their licenses. We dont know the exact agreements anyway.

What makes you think the owners of the licenses (not EA but the principle owners who let EA make games like FIFA, NBA, NFL, Star Wars, etc) would let them make exclusive games that would only be sold on EA's platform and not be multiplat?

They wouldnt so you would only be seeing games like Battlefield, Crysis, Dead Space, Mass Effect and Dragon Age (and any other IP that EA themselves own) which alone would not be enough to gather enough sales to be a good idea or remotely be successful.

we dont know about that. scince this is only hypotethical anyway, just imagine they would keep all licenses.
