Forums - Gaming Discussion - What do you all think of Gamestop Publishing a game?

With insomniac's announcement of song of the deep today, gamestop essentially has become a publisher/ third party.  What do you all think of gamestop entering this feild (albeit in a limited capacity).  Will it help or hurt the industry?  does it make gamestop a 'competitor' to other third parties that gamestop relies on to make money.

I personally think it is a smart move, as retail stores continue to shrink in the US.  it also makes sense because gamestop joins the group of shared distributors/publishers. (ie EA/ origin, Ubisoft/Uplay, Valve / steam, etc.)

I have no objections. Without Gamestop, I probably would never have played Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii as Nintendo of America was being stubborn.

EDIT: Sorry I was thinking about The last Story.

As for the being a publisher. They had already entered that realm when they started(bought?) Kongrete(spelling) which is a PC publishing platform.

I wonder if they'll publish games exclusively at BestBuy :P

That was more Xseed's doing than game stop though the money they used to buy exclusitivity was probally used by the team to help finance it.

XSeed has nothing to do with Xenoblade, dude.

Given the fact that when game stop made the leap into online game sales platform they were taking out steam keys from new copies of games and throwing them away here... makes me dredd anything they get involved with trying to make money from especially the idiotic way they go about it.

"Hey guys.... how will we push the Game stop published 3rd party game.... eeeerrr.... lets throw all other games away and only stock that one!" Job well done.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I don't really mind, as long as they don't extort the prices..

Meh, I could care less.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
