They can go back to making Toys and Love Hotels

is thsi a real thing?

Yep, awhile before they were in the game business. I believe there was also a business partnership with the yakuza for a time.

Hmm

If they can't turn this ship I hope they continue developing software. I wouldn't mind buying a PS or Xbox console as long as I can play my Zelda, Metroid, Paper Mario, Xenoblade and Fire Emblem.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I'm looking forward to Nintendo becoming 3rd party.

Then they will turn 3rd party and mobile. They could make a killing off cheap platformer games such as mario and donkey kong. Pokemon on android and Istore as would games like ALBW and ALTP. Yep they could do very well and they wouldn't have to minimise so much like sega either due to the fact nintendo actually have money

If it fails, they'll either go full mobile or 3rd party. There just isn't room for failure anymore..it's now or never!!

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

The don't need to replicate the success of Wii/DS, that's a very high barrier of what is considered a success/failure.

From FY 1990-2005, Nintendo averaged about 20-25 million units of hardware sold while making an annual profit of $1 billion +/- a few hundred million. In the Wii/DS Era they averaged about 40-50 million units sold and $3 billion in annual profits. They can be very successful with pre-Wii/DS figures.

Also since Nintendo is branching out with the continued push of Amiibo figurines/cards, starting to make mobile apps, opening theme park attractions, getting involved with films, Quality of Life products focused on health & education, plus the increase of merchandising that accompanies these things, there is less of a focus on all their profits coming from gaming meaning they can take more risks with their core business.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

The only thing I learned from history, is never count out the Big N.

Nintendo doesn't need to beat the other companies, they just need to remain profitable. If NX is easy to port to/develop for third parties will likely include it in multiplats even if they aren't making exclusives for it. I doubt Nintendo will dominate just given the worldwide strength of the Playstation brand (unless Sony goes under and Playstation is no longer on the market), butso long as Nintendo are making money I don't see them exiting the hardware business.

I think Ninten can compete still in the console space. Heck, I think they can dominate the space once again. They've done it once in one of their bleaker moments, so I don't see it in the realm of impossible. It all depends on what they do and if it is a great new idea. I think Ninten's still got it in them. : )

However, if it comes to the worst, I think they can at least live strictly handhelds. Ninten is excellent at that and there is still a place for dedicated portable consoles in the market. It'll be great if they still stick around with hardware as well. They're the ones pushing more to take risks and try new innovative things in the console space. Would be bad to lose that. : X
