Time for my yearly prediction, where I predict sales for the entire year at the start of the year

Talking about sold through units, shipped will be around 57,000,000.

Sony sold through 35.9M consoles by  Jan 3 2016, sold-in is around 37-38M. This means PS4 sold through 18.4M consoles in calendar 2015. With more games, big exclusives finally coming out, PSVR, more price reductions, possible Slim model, I'm expecting 19M if not more consoles sold in 2016.

Q1: 3M

Q3: 4.5M

Not possible. It's going to be very difficult and VR should convince people to buy the PS4. If VR can be used to watch movies in HD & 3d there would be a close chance.

seems like a safe prediction, i don't know why there are people doubting you here. Saying it's gonna be up 600k over last year isn't exactly ground breaking, it could sell 18-21 million.

lol at people who says its impossible...Sony sold 18.4mil in 2015. 55mil by end of 2016 means 19mil sold in 2016. Considering PS4 price dropped happened only in late October 2015. And Sony has way more big named exclusives in 2016 than 2015. This prediction is modest, if anything.

Actually, it's saying that the PS4 will be up 1.7m (17.4m vs. 19.1m). Of course, that still makes it a tame prediction.

 

A tame (possible just smart)  prediction but the sales certainly won't be tame!  One thing is for sure,  it will pass 50m easily in 2015. Just mind blowing that.  

 

BTW when I first read the title i thought it meant by the end of last year and I nearly spit my coffee out!

I think this prediction is more conservative than people are realizing. I think it easily reaches this number. This thread shall be revived come the end of the year ;p

I don't understand the people that say it's impossible. I don't think that it's definitely going to happen, but it only needs to sell 1 million more than it did this year. As a matter of fact, I would go as far as saying this really isn't a bold prediction. The ps4 has a way better year ahead of it than last year in terms of games.
