Forums - Sales Discussion - UK Charts Week Ending December 5 2015

Wait, people were saying that the Uncharted sales are coming from the bundle. Is that true? Because last week, Black Friday, it was really high but Gears of War UE wasn't even in the Top 40. So is it just selling retail copies or is it actually bundled?
Also, Until Dawns is doing really well.

The main x1 bundle in the UK is the 3 game bundle and fifa 16 bundle.

Did Mario Kart 8 open higher than MK Wii? If so that IS impressive.

Ah, I thought that you were refering to the attach rate...
Oh people misunderstanding this!:P Nintendo has other consoles with higher sales than wii u hence wii binary! :P Also, I was meaning that wii u instalbase didn't stopped Mario kart 8 to push very high sales  relative to size of installbase! :P Attach rate is important. it's not just a number which fluctuates depending on the size of installbase! It expresses how many people of a console installbase are buying the game, as the installbase widens may the attach rate fall but it can increase accordingly! :P You can sell 5m in a 10m installbase and 3m 20m! ;P

Not sure why you'd be thinking attach rate when the XCX comparison to XC was purely on absolute sales numbers, not attach rate.

Attach rate has to be used very carefully because it can mislead, both in a good and bad way. There are some games that are more or less immune to install base and other games will sell better as install base rises. Halo is an example of a franchise that is relartively unaffected by install base. This is because it has a large core fanbase and that fanbase is committed to Xbox and Halo.  Halo 5 might have caused the commitment of some to waver, but with free extras being added over time (like Forge is coming / here, and they might retrofit split screen if they know what's good for them) sales might remain strong and steady over the long term and Halo 5 might sell like Halo should. MK and NSMB seem to grow with install base, albeit growth isn't linear. Attach rate for games like that is always high regardless of install base. Even though MK Wii doesn't have an attach rate like MK8, the fact it managed a 35% attach rate on a 100 million selling console is a much more impressive achievement than 50% attach rate on Wii U.

There is every possibility that XCX will actually sell more in absolute terms than XC. Whereas there is zero chance that MK8 will sell more in absolute numbers than MK Wii. If XCX outsells XC then that is a mighty achievement for that game relative to it's predecessor. Even if both have rather low sales on the Nitnendo best seller list.

Why you keep refering to mario kart wii? :P

I explained you what I meant!  We misunderstood each other!  :P

Actually, it's almost 37m!  Really that is more impressive for you?  We have a different viewpoint :P For me mario kart 8 case, is the more impressive thing! 55% attach rate and each quarter it rises by 1%  instead of falling, 5.87m in just 1year and a half (as of 30th of september) on 10.73m installbase! What if Mario kart 8 was on wii, selling accordingly resulting to have same attach rate that has on wii u ? :P:P:P:P:P:P:P

Personally, I never use ds and wii for comparisons, they were at irregular heights for Nintendo's standards and in a period with inflated sales for the whole indursty! It's better to compare things that have some similarities!

So the fact that Mario kart 8 may surpass super mario kart on snes with the 50m installbase dazzles me! :P

The Uncharted bundle includes a physical copy of the game. The Gears of War UE bundle includes a digital access to the game. VGchartz only count physical copies

I'm pretty sure VGC counts digital copies from console bundles

Did the mods confirm it? It just doesn't make any sense seeing that the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition bundle is said to be the  best selling Xbox One bundle, yet sales are relatively very low.

Nice legs by Forza 6 it has better legs world wide then Horizon 2.

It has the holiday boosts, according to VGchartz Forza 6 sold 8,668 the week before Black Friday and on BF week it rose at least 380% so that puts it at about at least 35,000. What's interesting is that Forza 6 according to VGC sold 19,866 units week ending November 21.........

in Europe!!!

Looks like it's not a flop like what people are say.lol.

Yes it has pretty good legs plus it looks like next week we might get the first DLC track for it.  The 1966 Nissan Silvia that is already in the game but can't be bought directly from the car dealership is more then likely part of the DLC (one of the cars from a track car pack).
