Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor: Iphone-7 Headphone Jack Removal

NEW YORK— Is the headphone jack on the iPhone going the way of the iPod? According to the latest rumors, the answer is yes.

Although the latest iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are bound to be popular gifts this holiday season, that hasn't stopped the Internet from speculating on what will be in Apple's next iPhone. According to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple will be getting rid of the 3.5 mm headphone jack that has been standard on iPhones and other devices for years.

My initial reaction was one of vehement disgust, and I still don't believe the alternatives  (Wireless/Bluetooth) warrant the costs. What doest thou think?

Hmm, so I guess that means Samsung Galaxy S8 will be the first Android phone without a headphone jack.

It's a dumb thing to do, but it's pretty likely to happen with Bluetooth becoming big in the headphone part. They also bought beats which is becoming more wireless with their headsets. I can see other companies doing this too. First the SD slots on some phones then the headphone jack.

One more reason for me to avoid iPhone.

ugh hope this rumor is false ;x

lol, same

I will probably lose my sanity if this is true.

That, or I'll probably just use another phone.

well one more reason to avoid apple products besides the horrible price/hardware ratio and tight controlled OS

Sadly, Android Manufacturers will follow suit. Like they did with non-removable battery, and no SD cards.

And now the top Android phones like Samsung Galaxy and Nexus 5&6 are as closed as iPhone.

Atleast that took a while, but these days Samsung seems to basically have a team dedicated to copying Apple's every move.

time to stop buying their products...

They'll make an adapter that uses the lightning port on the iPhone for 40 bucks, that will let you plug in ancient wired headphones. Proprietary baby!

Or just give you headphones with a lightning port with the phone...
