Forums - Sony Discussion - What could GG do to Killzone to take it to the next level (sales and reception)?

Killzone is a solid franchise that has good sales and good reception. I don't think there is someone who has played this game and thought it was completely awful.

But it feels like the Killzone franchise still has space to grow to get more sales and reviews that will cite the game as another possible reason to get a PlayStation console.

So I ask you? Are there things you consider that Guerrilla Games could do with Killzone to make the games even better? Things you'd like to see in the Killzone games? Things you think the game should get rid of, add, or improve upon?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I played the first two, and enjoyed them quite a bit, but I can't really remember anything specific about them. Then the COD phenomenon happened, and I gravitated to them just because that's where most of my friends were playing online. In the end, there's only so many military-style FPS games the average gamer will want to play in any given year.

So Killzone should find some way to differentiate itself from the generic pack. God knows how. I read good things about Killzone Shadow Fall though...worth picking up?

By moving on cause new IP is refreshing, I'm happy Horizon exists, I hope sucker punch do the same with infamous.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Killzone needs to get back to the all of war feeling of K2, but in VR with the sharp shooter motion set-up of Killzone 3. I don't think Killzone will ever appeal to the masses though, and I would not like to see them attempt to either. It is great to have different experiences on the market, and as long as Killzone is moving ~3 million units per game, it should continue to be a healthy franchise.

Make the helghast the protagonist.

I can't speak for what they could do to improve the game, as I haven't played any entry in the series; however, I can speak for what has made me overlook the series, and that's primarily the weak protagonist. From the brief reading I have done on the backstory it seems like the helghast are arguably the good guys (albeit extreme in their measures). Not to mention they are way more interesting (there's a reason most of the advertising focuses on the image of the helghast).

From the advertising, I can't actually recall the slightest thing about the protagonist. I only played roughly 20 minutes into Killzone 2 and the overall grandness of the conflict was lost in the mediocrity of the characters. This ruined the experience for me, despite the fact that I really enjoyed the other aspects of the game (I actually like the weighted feel of weapons in games that everyone complained about initially and I feel that the Killzone series is great at encompassing a chaotic battlefield from the gameplay videos I've watched).

I'm not saying it's a bad serie (and I didn't play the PS4 episode), in fact I even like a lot the style, background and design of the hellgast, but everytime I tried I got bored half-way. I felt it was generic and uninspiring for everything but the Hellgast. IMO, lack of something epic, magic, need more work on 1st characters, missions, ISA military, weapons, etc. Not a super original idea, but being on Hellgast side against a bad-ass opponent (monsters, ET, mutants, whatever) would improve a lot my experience. At the very least, they need to make the ISA better.

Killzone is great. But they should just leave it. Horizon is where their future is at.

They could make it suck? Guaranteed 80+ meta and millions of sales

Turn it into a third person, open world RPG, add robotic dinosaurs and a sexy female protagonist.

Imma go with this one.

First of all: have Cambridge make the game.
Second of all: makes the guns feel better. IMO in comparison to the big franchises such as CoD, BF and even Battlefront gun gameplay felt like shit in Shadow Fall.
