Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I never played The Legend of Zelda without a walkthrough before. Am I the only one?

Look... I LOVE Zelda alot and it's my favorite franchise of all time.... but I have NEVERED finished a game first time without a walkthrough. I have finished games on my own before on the 2nd time but NEVER the 1st time. It would take a genius for you to play a Zelda game without a walkthrough or guide. Am the only person to do this? If so I feel really stupid to do this. Zelda games are hard to complete, but its fun! I ONLY use a walkthrough when I get stuck, that's the only reason.

Gotta admit, yeah, I've used a walkthrough at least once on every Zelda game I have played.

To me there is nothing more boring than not knowing where to go or what to do next.

Err... no, I've never used a walkthrough to beat a Zelda game, Awakening DX aside (because fuck that fisherman under the bridge); where's the fun if you don't discover things by yourself?

On a side note, I don't complete the games 100%, though.

I don't recall using a guide of any sort with a few of the games but back in the day I have used the Nintendo hotline to help with on the older games on certain parts. I tend to not just full blown use a walk-through for the entire time for any game in the series as anything past the Nes entries, does a pretty good job at letting you know what to do and where to go next.

To be honest, I had been using walkthroughs to help me beat the games, although I didn't really use them for A Link Between Worlds.

It's more fun if you find things by yourself. I've never used a walkthrough to beat a Zelda game. Before the final dungeon I usually check a heart piece location guide to find the 2-3 pieces I may have missed and that's it.

I do pretty much the same with Metroid games (replace heart pieces with missile expansions).

Can't recall using a guide on Zelda, it's simple enough to survive without one. The exception is ofcourse Skyward Sword but that's only because I bought the limited edition guide, which is super pretty BTW.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Before when I played OoT vs ALTTP I didn't have internet, but I used walkthrough later for TP, SS and MM Zelda's.
I only use walkthrough when I stuck somewhere and don't want to lose too much time to figure how to pass some point of game.

You probably dont know this, but we have on forum some people that completed OoT and MM without any help and totally understand those games at age of 5. :)

I used a walktrough for Zelda II: The adventure of Link, mostly to find Kasuto and for the final palace's labyrinth (still couldn't beat it, though). And while I finished the first Zelda without a walktrough, I used one to find all those caves and staircases I missed later on
