If true, I can see why. They wouldn't want to potentially offend any Native Americans with this costume. I've seen some Natives are not offended in the slightest, but I see it is good SE is taking them into consideration when localizing it.

While it certainly will not affect my decision to purchase the game (of which I certainly will), I do think this is a bad decision, if true. If you want to remove the class to avoid offending people, that's fine (still silly, but fine), but don't replace it with a freaking cowboy. It's so out of place.
