Forums - Gaming Discussion - Would a Mario Kart at launch of NX be too soon?

If they want to continue carrying the same excellent quality of MK8, then yeah, I think it's a bit too soon.

Nope, wouldn't be too soon. And it's actuall pretty easy for them to improve upon MK8, all they need to do is add King Boo back as a playable character

You mean Dry Bones.

If Nintendo has the nerve to launch a brand new system with a game that was supposed to be built for the Wii U.... I will not buy that system at launch or ever lol just my personal point of view. They better have something new and completely NX.

Did you buy a Wii?

I did, but it was a little while after it came out. I got twilight princess on gamecube and loved it and beat it. Then got a Wii a while after that i cant remember how long or what game I got with it... Red Steel and excite truck I think. Which are underrated games in my opinion.

Mario Kart releases about every 3 years, DS-2005, Wii-2008, 3DS-2011, Wii U-2014. So NX probably won't have one at launch, assuming it releases Holiday 2016, but a year one title seems possible.

For me, yes. The DLC has made me opposed to a new Mario Kart right now. We got 1.5 Mario Kart in MK8 as it is. However, I think the next logical step to make is to allow more Nintendo characters in the game besides the Mario ones. This would allow more types of stages, items, karts, and music. I would love to see Kirby or Captain Falcon in MK for real but of course, Nintendo would have to find a balance so that no one franchise over powers the other. If Nintendo expanded Mario Kart, then I would be all for it.

Probably.. they finished releasing DLC for MK8 in May so they'll need some time to think of something new to add

Nothing is ever too soon, IMO, but if they want they want the next MK game to be of high quality, it certainly won't be a launch title.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

MKWii - Mid-year 2008
MK7 - Holiday 2011
MK8 - Mid-year 2014 ~ Mid-year 2015

I'd bet on a Holiday 2016 release IF it is on a handheld that is just as - or more powerful than -the Wii U. Should be relatively easy to port the engine over and just let raw power take care of the rest.

You know what's sad about all these threads? Soon Nintendo will release the Direct we're all desperate for, and it's going to suck.
