They will release with half of the overworld and 2 dungeons. In later updates they will add more dungeons and new Hyrule areas. Those updates are *free*.

I can see the pricecut. Nintento probably wants to release their next hardware soon, and by making a pricecut to the WiiU and 3DS their last year, they'll clear out stock for both. Also, a 2DS for 50$ could be a really good choice before Christmas.

Will WiiU and 3DS will sell at least for 2-3 year more regardless new hardware. It very unrealistic to expect that 2DS will have $50 price cut, not exactly same thing when $300 product gets $50 price cuts and when $100 product gets $50 price cut.
