Sooo the answer is to always disconnect from the internet before you boot up TPP and don't reconnect until you've shut the game down? I have absolutely no interest in doing online FOB stuff when I finally get around to playing this (I got it as a gift) and if it's necessary to have a decent FOB for single player I don;t want to have to kuch around with trying to keep it safe, or insured.

That's the only solution I can think of, yes. Your crew will force you to build an FOB sooner or later, and some resources will be moved there as a result. From the moment you connect yourself to the internet with an FOB, it can be invaded by anyone, and thus lose things in the process if they're sucessful.

I am sorry but if someone pays konami this they are stupid as hell.
FOB was created simply to suck money from microtransations, i dont even play that shit.

The problem is, from the very moment Ocelot forces you to create an FOB, and your console connects to the internet and send the info to Konami servers, you'll get royally screwed from time to time. You don't even need to play it in order to get invaded.

Heck, you don't even need PS+ to play this multiplayer part. They probably thought this in advance. The more players that can screw your base and materials, the better.

I know lol , i dont even have psplus and cant defend , had one japanese dude invading me everyday at the same hour, he just got some materials and some shit soldiers but it was frustrating. I am 85 % on the game and i probably will not play again, it was fun but now its time to move to other games :D

Wait, you're kidding me right?  Even if you don't subscribe to PSplus?  This is the largest bunch of bull I have ever heard.

Good to know. Thanks to all those people who have beta tested the game for me post launch so I can be forewarned about some of the shit that's being pulled int he microtransaction world.

Also blame for this shit needs to be equally shared between Kojima and Konami. Konami as the publisher of this game has plenty of influence over many aspects of the game, and a decision to not have an opt out of the FOB online shenanigans is as much on Konami as it is on Kojima. Kojima may have wanted this as a compulsory feature, but Konami had the power and authority to say no. And it's totally Konami's call to put microtransactions into this insurance scheme. The FOB concept might be 100% Kojima's mad evil genius idea, but the implementation of it is a collaboration between Kojima and Konami.

Hence #FucKonami is totally legit in this situation, but one may also like to add a #FucKojima at the same time.

Wait, you're kidding me right?  That is the biggest bullshit I have ever heard for an online gaming experience.

So you pay to protect your gear if you get raided...? Sounds pretty low to me. Ugh, microtransactions... u_u

The whole point of FOB is that you infiltrate other bases, but to make the experience as authentic as possible, these bases can hold some of your resources etc.

The problem though is that there is no way to not be part of it, but you can just not bother and hopefully that minimises the risk. What makes this inusrance thing such a problem is how the new patch has now regulated how resources are shared between offline and online. There is no way to stop many of your resources going into the online mode.

That said, ppl dont bring up the fact that they have made night time invasions even more difficult now since guards can wear NVG. So anyone with a well fortified base is not really going to have less issues now with other ppl attacking.

But its dumb thats for sure. As long as Konami allows reousrces management then this new microtransaction is not much of a problem.

Oh, thanks for clearing that all for me.. o_o I get it all now. Though I wonder why don't they just give people the option to not participate? That'd be more fair to people than having insurance to protect them...
