A top 10 Nintendo games would (have been extremely difficult) but would've definitely happened. It probably will happen I can see them relaxing on their Youtube policies in future. 

This is a top 10 modern protagonists, not the top 10 of all time.Since the oldest game here is probably from 2009/2010, and well, there is far better protagonists than ones shown here.

Edit:With eception of Metal gear games, but he put the caracther here probably more because of Phantom Pain than any of the other games, since thats the only game shown in the footage

MGSV footage was shown for prettiness. Which non-silent/nintendo protagonists did I miss? 

I used new footage for characters because it looks best for the video. Lara Croft is almost 20 years old, Kratos is 10 years old. Phoenix is 10 years old. Snake is old as fuck.Ryu and Ken are almost 30 years old. Any other characters would be Nintendo Characters or Silent mofo's like Gordon Freeman.

Well, taking off Nintendo does eliminate alot of possibilities, and while i dont agree that silent protagonists should be rulled out(samus aran is a kickass characther and she is a silent one, except for other M,chrono from chrono trigger and the list goes on), it is your list and your rules, but i personally think(and i really mean personally, because any top 10 list is really dependant of the persons experience with the game and so on) there should be a cFinal fantasy character in there, be it Cloud or Tidus(my personal favorite), because they are excellent characters, with rich background, Sora from Kingdom Hearts,Kerrigan or Jim Raynor from Starcraft(I know they are not exactly protagonists, but they are one of the main characters of the series,and yes, you control their forces, but you get the drill).I find those characters much more deep and intriging than Felix or Delsin.Again, i know these types of lists are very personal, but i believe there are characters that deserve more to be in that list than others(though i find the list not that bad)

And the characters dont need to have a long history, like most nintendo characters, to be an excellent character and have a huge impact.An easy example is the last of us.Ellie and Joel manages to be the favorite for many people in just one game.And I also love Junpei from the Zero Escape series, which is a visual novel that started around 2010 and have just 2 games.As a said, while i dont agree with half of the characters there, its not a bad list

Very very well put, can't find much to disagree with here :) I've not had lots of experience with FF so I wouldn't really know who to put on when it comes to that.
