From what I've heard they say the water is extreamly salty. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to drink that water :P

Plus, while it's extremely unlikely that any life exists in this water (or that it doesn't for very long, due to lack of atmosphere and constant exposure to solar radiation), we do know there are examples of bacteria on Earth with extreme resistance to radiation (which lends credence to the theory that life on Earth was spawned via panspermia), so it's plausible to assume some organisms can survive the short period of time these water flows are active. We've no idea what such life could do to us...and I doubt anyone wants to be the guinea pig.

Having watched the stream, they actually said nothing about wanting more money, in fact they indicated that the 2020 Mars Rover has already been planned for and is in production w/in the budget they currently have. You can take off the tinfoil hat.

What? First off, if the sun burned out Mars would actually be a worse place to be than Earth. Secondly, there is going to come a time when humans out grow Earth. That is inevitable. Finding a way for humans to live on Mars is the first step in making sure our species survives. Long term, there really isn't anything more important being worked on.

Don't think the human race will last another 5 billion to 7 billion years(how long the sun supposedly has left) according to my religion. I know if the sun burned out Mars would be worse...that's what I was saying. Religion is the differing opinion here.
