really surprised to see donkey kong 64 on your list..! imo it has aged horribly! just booted it up a few weeks ago, didn't get further than angry aztec before i got bored out of my socks :/

my current top 5:
5. super mario world
4. xenoblade chronicles
3. metroid prime trilogy
2. donkey kong country 1+2
1. the legend of zelda - majora's mask+ocarina of time

3. Majora's Mask
4. Kid icuras uprising
5..... Super Metroid... no... Starfo... Wait! Super Mario Wor.... Fzero x... Guuggunnh... no.. no.... I.. I just can't choose.

I agree. How dare people have opinions?


That game is responsible for their entire companies success in the home console market. One could easily argue that without SMB, there IS no top 5 list some, 30 years later. 

SMB should be the number game on every "best of" Nintendo list forever.

That doesn't automatically make it the best game they ever made, much less force people to have it as their favorite.


I didn't say best and neither does the thread title. It says "top" 5 Nintendo games. SMB should be at the "top" of any rational list whether a person likes the game or not.

It's not at the top of my list and that is the first game that I can remember playing in my life

really hard to pick and there are several IPs that I'm very new and haven't played a lot of Nintendo.  The list above are games I've played the most but i still left out a few like DKC.  Zelda games, I've played but haven't completed or nearly completed it.
