The original wasn't funny, but it was also really tame. I can't even understand why anyone took umbrage at it. The follow up response to the responses WAS funny. OMG some of those comments were so ridiculous they make gamers a laughing stock, but it was funny.

He thinks watching people play video games is a "double waste of time" that is he's slagging off the people who are playing the games as well as the people who are watching. I wonder if some of the people in this thread got that.

They should have a Jimmy off. Jimmy Kimmel vs Jimmy Fallon.

I do kinda agree with him that watching people like PewDiePie is a waste. I watch pro-league gaming but not much else, though some stuff I quite enjoy like some of the video game react channel stuff. Like I watched old people react to TLOU, that was funny.

Definitely agree with you. Joke wasn't that funny, but it wasn't even borderline insulting. Why do people get so offended by that? And if he thinks watching others play is a waste of time, why does one have to get angry at that? Some of them, Youtube commenters in particular, make the most raunchiest and disrespectful jokes, and expect people to tolerate them.

Now, if this was a master plan from Kimmel to elicit those responses, now that was really funny. I mean, he did fool everyone with the girl who caught her leg on fire because she fell while twerking. But it seems like a longshot.

I do watch some gameplay for some games I might buy and maybe some tips here and there, but that's it.

Why watch other people play sports?

/thread

Because for sports you need actual skill and manly men. In video games you're just pressing buttons.

And eSports pros have no skill at what they do right?

Professional sports involve physical parameters that very few are born with, and even then STILL cant make it to the big leagues despite that. Pro gamers are skilled, but they are not exceptional in mind or body. I even find it kind of insulting that some people want to compare someone who pushes keys for untold hours a day to someone who is literally the strongest iteration of physicality humanity can offer.

Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!!!!

Not met many footballers have you? Peak of physical fitness doesn't mean that they are peak in mind.

You can train to be good at anything, else what would be the point of education/training. Sure some might have more natural talent but this works the same for gamers. Each sport has it's own set of required skills. A 100m sprinter could not in anyway beat the best in the world at Squash. Look at the Decathlon, these althetes can perform exceptionally well in loads of track and field events but they are usually way off the world leading times/distances. A gamer has their own skills, enough to become that good at the game.

Hmm, pie.

By your criteria, professional go and chess players have no merit because the pieces they play with don't weigh 100Ibs each... -___-

I like to play football myself and also watch it being played by people who are actually good at playing it.
