Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Lol, it's times like these that I'm embarassed to be part of the gaming community. This is a comedian people. Wake up, who cares if he makes a joke about let's plays. And all the people sending him death threats over this are pathetic losers in life and are an absolute disgrace to the entire gaming community.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

Comedy should be open to any subject.

As for Kimmel. He just isn't funny. Some of his writing staff with skits can be funny, but he's basically just a host at that point, he's just overseeing it.

Even Leno was funnier than Kimmel.

Speed runs are where it's at.

I watch a lot of Let's Plays and I thought both videos where funny. The plebs needs to chill.

Still better then Fallon and he is a better interviewer also which really is the main point of watching a late night talk show since the interviews take up 2/3 of the time.

Fucking hilarious, and he is right. Watching lets plays are kinda dumb.

First: OP is asking whether comedy should be taken seriously?!?

Second: I completely agree with Kimmel, I find watching people play video games pathetic as well, especially if a person watching is over 12 years old.

people here are saying watching let's plays are pathetic yet maybe don't realize that people can't afford every game or console that comes out. I've never watched one but I've been debating it for a few titles on PS4.

I'll generally watch the Halo Championships on twitch which I find no different than watching golf, poker or any sport for that matter. People do some pretty impressive stuff in the pro circuit for video games as do athletes in the sport they play. Watching sports is no different just because people are being 'active'. You, too, could go play said sport. You don't have to play in a professional league to play football. I'm so sick of everyone saying "it's not the same cause not everyone can be in the NFL or MLB", there are plenty of leagues for you to join with people who aren't professionals...

If people want to watch other people play video games then let them. Some are watching for the player's personality, others to check out the game or to watch the pro players play.

Why watch other people play sports?

I'll agree when it's something like golf, but even then it's about cheering on the player as opposed to the team. That's generally what watching sports is about. Living vicariously through someone or many others. Often the reasonings for this is because it's where they grew up, or they have a tie to it in one way or another. With gaming, it's not. For the most part the ability to play the game is a real thing, they are quite accessable and generally cost the same as the cost for the internet that it is being watched with.

Very few have the ability to be a professional athlete, however the vast majority have the ability to play a game.

I do understand the idea of watching a video to find out a part you are having trouble with, but I find that walkthroughs generally work better and are easier to find those specific sections.

Your analogy is not correct.

twitch is primarily for people who are good at games.
When arteezy streams, he has 20k viewers watching simultaneously.

Lots of people watch pro players play video games.
And lots of people watch let's plays for entertainment.
