Forums - Sony Discussion - Why you shouldn't purchase a 1TB PlayStation 4

- PlayStaion 4 received a hardware update (new CUH-1200) tested by TechRadar:

http://www.techradar.com/reviews/gaming/games-consoles/sony-ps4-1131803/review

which is consumes 25 percent less power and while on sleep mode consumes even less, going as far as 35 percent

- The 1TB PS4 releasing are running the older CUH-1100 hardware instead of the newer one so you will be "spending more on your electricity bills"

- If upgrading your storage is the overkill situation for you, you can still can easily upgrade your PlayStation 4 to a bigger 2TB PlayStation 4 console by purchasing a 2.5-inch SATA replacement hard drive to replace the built-in hard drive of your PlayStation 4.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

This is not news. It was common knowledge that the 1TB model would be the older hardware revision. It isn't as if they won't transition over time, but it is what it is.

Yeah, that electricity consumption hits really hard. After paying 400$ they can't afford the 5 dollars a year anymore.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

They also mention that the new model a good bit quieter, you probably should have put that in the thread. That's really the big reason to buy the newer model.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

That's a pretty hilarious reason as to not purchase a console.

And despite what people say about noise, my PS4, even when playing Rocket League when it was apparently really making the PS4 rev up, never made enough noise for me to notice it over the game. People who complain about PS4 noise have apparently never owned a game system that wasn't properly taken care of. When you can hear the fans spinning up incredibly audibly over your already somewhat loud television, that is cause for disappointment. I have a 360 that I got for free from my friend where you can't ignore the fans no matter how hard you try.

Eeehh....the PS4 is probably the loudest console I own. Though, my friends 360's sounded like we were playing games on the deck of the USS Ronald Reagan.

I never understood that obsession with electricity consumption.
If my "old" PS4 were to be turned on 24/7 (which it certainly is not) it would consume about 50 cents of electricity daily.
So a 25% saving is about 12 cents per day, or about €40 per year (if it ran all day and night). But since it's turned on about 2-3 hours daily at most, the new model would have saved me a shocking €4 every year.

Wow....

I bet the people that wrote the article unplug their refridgerator at night.

Yeah, I'm sure a ton of people care about a small increase in electricity usage . (And by small I mean minuscule)

6 Decibels, still in the 50's on load.
