To make you happy. Before Meta Knight's reveal they showed a meta knight's mask for mii. Maybe KKR can still make

or next smash

The next smash is going to be on mobile phones with touch controls.......FML

Lol I doubt there will be another console Smash Bros game.   Nintendo is pretty much out of the console scene as of now.

Same for Bowser, Gannondorf and Wolf.   At least Rool has an original design and had a lot of attacks in DK:C.  This isn't a matter of opinion, it's a matter of populous, and the populous wanted Rool in the game, but he isn't.  Instead the characters that no one gives a fuck about are in the game in mass numbers, and clones that no one also gives a fuck about

You think Nintendo villains aren't generic and basic?

No, it's a matter of opinion.  Unless you have some kind of evidence to show that the masses wanted King K Rool and doesn't care about fire emblem characters.

K Rool is a crocodile with a crown.  Not sure how original I'd call that.

Bowser actually has showed his personality in several games, particularly the Mario RPG series.  He is far more recognizable than K Rool.  He also has far more attacks to draw from.  It's not even close.

Ganondorf also shows personality in a lot of games, has more moves, and again is far more iconic.

Wolf isn't even in this game.

So do you have some sort of evidence to back up your claim that people want K Rool more than these other characters?  Cause otherwise, you're talking out of your ass.

You aren't making a lick of sense dude.  Mario is a plumber who jumps...Real original design, Donkey Kong is literally just an ape with a tye.  Bowser is a dragon turtle.   Ganondorf doesn't even fight how he should in Smash, how do you expect that to be a valid counterpoint?

Pull up any character poll for Smash, including the ballot, and you will see Rool as far above and at the top of lists.   This is a site about sales, and you would think that people on here would use them as a sorta consenses of what people care about/want to play.  Just going by sales, I can safely say not many people care about Fire Emblem or Kid Icarus.   Not as many cared about Roy, but bam, he's in there.   Far more care about Rool, but again Nintendo's taking the lazy way out because they would have to design a whole new moveset instead of recycling which is why there are so many FE characters in Smash

*Sigh*  I wish I had gotten that edit up sooner.

1.  Never said anything about Mario or DK being original, or that originality should be the sole criteria.  So, that's a strawman argument.  And Ganondorf's fighting style is a whole different issue.

2.  I'm not sure what poll results you're talking about.  The ballot results are not available.  Best we have is a reddit thread, but if a random thread on reddit is your evidence, then you just don't know what counts as good data.

2.  No, you can't safely say that.  Because the most recent sales data we have for a game with K Rool is from 1999.  If you think not only that this data is still relevant, but we can also base the game's success or failure solely on how popular King K Rool is then... ummm... that's stupid.

3.  You have still provided nothing substantial to show Rool is more popular than any other character.  You've just made a string of really baseless assertions about game development, and made weird and random assumptions as to the motivations behind the roster.

So... hate to be accusatory, but this seems like a troll topic meant to bait people into really dumb arguments.  If you can prove me wrong with the next post, I'll continue, but if not, I'm going to resist the bait and simply ignore it.

I agree that they didn't take effort, but you are blind if you think they didn't have to reach a character quota of fighters in the game.  They used the clones because they didn't have the creativity, manpower or time to make 3-4 completely new fighters

Smash bros 4 has one of the most if not the most characters in a fighting game, its now extending over 50 characters and more with DLC coming, They have fan faves like Mega Man, pacman, and suprise characters like shulk, duck hunt, bowser JR wich and villager to just name a few wich all burst with creativity. If you are saying SAkurai and his team didnt put the most effort in this then you dont know what you are saying. I also want King K rool in smash, Lucina , dark pit and DR mario didnt eliminate any other spots for any characters. They added them extra fanservice. Sakurai is not a man who makes half finished games. The character roster is the best we ever had no questions asked.

That's cherrypicking.  That's like saying Mario BaseBall has the most playable characters of any game...

It doesn't take a huge amount of effort to make a character for smash, look at all the hacks M that have literally hundreds of characters, many of which are made by 1 person that have drastically different movesets.  Let's compare them to making a soul caliber or BlazBlue character that have hundreds of possible strings, 5 super moves, 8 special attacks, and multiple directional inputs...It's not a lot of work to design a character for smash compared to other fighting games..

Sure the rooster is big, but none of the older characters but maybe 3 have recieved noticable updates or new attacks.  They are exactly carbon copies.  I'm saying the game was rushed, not exactly halfassed, just rushed to shit, and it shows in the content of the game, very few new trophies, very few new models, very few new assist trophies, very few new stages, removal of a huge story mode part of the game, just to name a few.   The clones were most definitely added to buff the pre-DLC rooster of the game.  If you think they would have sent the game out with the just 8 new guys you can't be serious.  The clones were definitely a nessessity to the game.

Theres not a single Trophy in smash 4 that they used in any other smash game from what i seen, show me where they reused the exact model for a trophy. Also ALOT of new assist trophies, they have more new things in smash 4 than any other smash. Making a character in smash 4 is way more complicated than most fighting games and thats because of the enormous amount if balancing each character. Making the character in Project M they are taking alot of things from previous already existing assets. In smash 4 they actually have to make every previous asset new, Sakurai even stated that. I dont know where your supposedly ''facts ''come from.

1.) You call Rool unoriginal,  generic and "sucky", yet retract that and say it doesn't matter now?  Why even include it in your post if you didn't want someone to reply to it and how much of a contridiction it is to the rest of your postes in this thread? There have been huge ballot estimates as well as polls on IGN, GameSpot,  Reddit, Escapist and plenty of others.  A Nintendo  associate even went forth about Rool and Ryu being in the top spots in the first week.  Google is your friend.

2.) Yeah exactly, less consoles and less gamers back in '99.  Think of all the fans who played DK back in the late 90s who could still possibly be Nintendo fans.  Look at Earthbound...Hasn't been in the US since '95

we can also base the game's success or failure solely on how popular King K Rool is then... ummm... that's stupid.  Don't know what the fuck you mean by this.  Donkey Kong is a popular game and Rool was one of the main characteres and the main villain, which is why he deserves a spot, beyond the fact that the majority of gamers want him in above everyone else.  The game is already sold, I'm sure more people would buy Rool as DLC than the other 2 characters that already got in.

4.)   So sales of games aren't evidence of the popularity of a particular game?   Sales show that most people don't know/haven't played these games, or if they have played them.  Good sales = more people know the game and series, thus they are more popular.  Is it just a conicedence that Mario is the best selling as well as the most prolific game character?  This is basic economics .  Surely economics aren't baseless, if that were the case investers would have no job.  From an economical standpoint, putting Rool in the game would be a better choice than putting in Roy or Lucas or even Ryu perhaps, granted they aren't lazy and put in the effort to make him good and well designed.

Here's some polls on the net that pretty much exactly prove my point.

Seriously?? Have you played Brawl? Brawl had by far the most new content, they actually went all out with that installment.  The story mode and cutscenes are completely removed, so no, a huge part of Brawl is not in this game, how can you say it has the new most content?   In Brawl a lot of the Tropies were original models they rendered, in Smash 4 the tropies are just copy pastes of Brawl's and the models from the original game the trophy came from, very few are new.   Hell they don;t even update the textures and they look low quality compared to the rest of the game world.   Almost all the Mario Tropies and Fire Emblem trophies, Sonic Trophies are the EXACT same ones from Brawl.  IF you haven't seen how many recycled elements are in this game, you obviously haven't played brawl or this enough to see how much they half assed the majority of the content.   Brawl also had more original stages, ORIGINAL songs, remixes ,ect.

Look at the tier lists and tourneys, the game is FAR from balanced, so saying it is is straight bullshit.  Generally speaking, the faster the character the stronger they are.

Making the subpar 3DS version took away alot of the resources and time they could have used to make the Wii U version better

let it be a newcomer on next smash.
(and a new DK game with K roll coming back!)

Because they need to focus their efforts on Dark Classic Pit.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

When you said smash 4 is just like a mobile game there was no more credibilty left.  You are just taking supposedly facts and saying as they are facts, GIVE ME ONE SINGLE TROPHY thats the exact same throphy as in smash brawl. I have not seen a single low texture trophy on the Wii U version (not included original wii games trophies) they updated all the trophies. Stop complaining and enjoy the game for what it is. we have over 50 characters for crying out loud.

Because king k rool is a fat naked crocodile with an evil english accent lol.
