Forums - Microsoft Discussion - I really wish Microsoft invested into Phantom Dust or a new game rather than Rise of the Tomb Raider.

You are not that smart if you think bloodborne is a sequel to thé Souls, thé gameplay is quite différent, its not for nothing the IP are différent

Whether you like it or not its a new IP, inspired by souls but with all new gameplay mechanics

And its not thé only one im thinking of, there are also Dreams,Horizon, Rime, Wild, Until Dawn, ... coming  and i didnt say i was only talking about PS4, since thé beginning of handheld génération, since 2012 with all the new Vita IP they created ( Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Soul Sacrifice , 3 new ip and 3 must have), you cant deny thé fact had a lot of new good exclusive IP, its only natural to think they will continue to créateur other new IP and they seem to do so, its a matter of Being if good faith. Sony has more studios with much more teams so more variety in exclusives than X1, they wouldnt even need to create new IP with all these IP already existing, but they still do.

And to think they will announce at least 2 new IP again this year ( QD game and Sony Bend Game)

Please, all the soul series have different gameplay in someway and there are many games like this as well, doesn't mean its a new IP. What about Sunset Overdrive, Titan Fall,  Quantum Break, ScaleBound, Recore,Sea of theieves. These are either great games or should be great. Granted some of these aren't first party, but many of these would've never been made if it wasn't for Microsoft nonethless.

It seems you dont know shit about Souls serie and havent even play Bloodborne , so simple answer like any real fan would tell you : No.

It's not about being first party or not, it's about owning IP's.
Titanfall is not Microsoft IP  , it will be released on PS4 for the sequel ( and it's on PC so...)  , Sunset Overdrive IP is owned by Insomniac Games, not Microsoft IP too.

The only good examples you have are Quantum Break, Scalebound, Sea of Thieves and maybe Recore ( though not sure about this one, if it's a scalebound or sunset overdrive situation )

So yes, there are some, but it's not a lot considering what they have been doing since 2012 while they have only 1 console to support and a lot of cash ( they prefer to use on Tomb Raider...)

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Talking about moving goal posts. Some of those sony ips are one in done. So is some of this microsoft games like sunset overdrive more than likely.

None of those i quoted are not owned by Sony, Sony is used to own their IP now ( thats exactly the reason why Insomniac didnt make Sunset for PS4, because they refused to give the IP to Sony, so they went to Microsoft who allowed them to keep the IP like they said )

You are the only one moving goal posts, you can tell microsoft makes new IP's if they are not their IP's , especially when some will be released on PS4 in the sequels -_-

Any gamer with a bit of common sense knows the fact that sony creates a lot more new IP's anyway, only nintendo could be a competitor on this field in their good days, so there is not real debate, it's like arguing about the fact MS has the biggest exclusive FPS, facts talk for themselves

MS have no talent to make they own game period so they paid huge sum of $$$$ to get other game exclusive
(that show how they afraid of the competitor)

Scalebound, quantum break, recore?

recore indie game made Inufane (the guy who screw all backer with mighty number 9) no thx

scalebound again third party made by platinum (MS got nothing in there except like the rest paid big sum of $$$$ that all)

quantum break it made by Remedy Entertainment (who did max payne 1 , alan wake that a other game paid only by MS)

MS publish those game only just like tomb raider

I am just talking about new ips. All the games I've listed are new ips that Microsoft helped with and wouldn't be made without them. If there is a sunset overdrive 2 thank Microsoft it wouldn't happend without them. Still doesn't take the fact they invested into new games. And they will continue to do so wether its a game they don't own (sunset overdrive) or a game they do own (Scalebound). This will continue for a long time.

And since i brought the subject, i was obviously talking about IP's owned, the goal post was to talk about the variety of IP owned

Sunset Overdrive would have happened thanks to someone else, microsoft is not the only one with money.

Still doesnt take the fact that you answer me off topic since i was talking about investement in new games of their own. It's good to invest in a game that would have existed through an other publish anyway, but it's better to make your console more unique, because sony does both, lot of IP's owned by themselves + lot of games they help, it brings more exclusives .

And how many of those games do Sony keep up with? They toss them out not because they want more new ip games, its because their games usually don't sell well. So it really doesn't matter if Sony makes new ips and keep them when they won't use them in the future. Microsoft invest into some new ips that will never see a sequal.

I don't get why someone would be arguing about who supports new IP's more but then would exclude a game like Sunset Overdrive just because that company doesn't own the IP.

Insomniac wanted to keep the IP, Sony wanted the IP. They went with MS because they wanted control of their IP. Had they went Sony, you'd be listing the game as an IP Sony brought to fruition just because they own the IP, when at the end of the day they'd only be doing the same thing as MS: writing checks.

It's a strange qualifier to add to such an argument. All that should really matter is did one of these companies support this new IP? Yes? Well then awesome.

And personally I haven't seen any sort of big difference in the support Sony has thrown to new IP's versus MS.

I think MS can afford to invest in exclusives and still fund new games. The Tomb Raider deal is just intended to stimulate some hardware sales this holiday.

Either way, there isnt a lack of notable content on the X1 and I dont think the masses are really yearning for new Battletoads.

You make totally no sense, it matters if you are a real gamer because it makes the library better with more games and more variety, an IP doesnt always need a sequel, especially a story telling one, TLOU would have been good without a sequel even if they make one

And some have sequels, and when they dont keep up they create new ones. ( for example gravity rush 2, an IP just created on Vita will have it's sequel on PS4 ).

Anyway, that doesnt change the facts i told you , and  it would have been better to get a real exclusive, new IP or even not, instead of this false exclusive , wasted money when Microsoft could create more IP or revive games ( Banjo?) and need it.
