Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why I switched all my pre-orders over to best buy, instead of Gamestop.

Bestbuy is getting worst in Canada (or at least in my locations that I know of). They've stopped giving bonus points for purchasing/preordering and they're very weak when it comes to getting collectors edition. They still have the rewards points but hardly worth getting now. I had a Bestbuy Visa card to get even more points but the program got cancelled. I still shop there now and then but I hardly expect much from them anymore as I use to be an avid shopper there as well.

EBgames/Gamestop have improved greatly since last gen being equal with their US branches. Before last gen, Gamestop exclusives and collectors editions (etc.) would only be in the US only and I was pissed. But now that they're the same I do all of my collectors editions and preorders there.

I spent $30 on the gamer's club membership and I've already started profitting on it. All you need is 3 full price games and you're there.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

GCU (new games are 20% off) and their $10 preorder reward was enough for me to make the jump. Though I've given gamestop business about once a year for more than half a decade now.

*DISCLAIMER* i do work at best buy
I'm not gonna advertise it like he has, but yes it really is a great deal now that gamers club is $30 (it use to be WAY over priced)

only thing i advise people, if you're going to pre-order ALWAYS do it online and pick up at store. Our instore pre-order system is not the best and chances are you'll be going through hoops to get your game at launch or midnight.
I especially recommend it if there's suppose to be bonus content / dlc with pre-order, because we NEVER get it right in store.

On the rare occasion I'm not getting a game from Amazon, I'll take Best Buy over Gamestop any day.

As someone that worked at Best Buy for 6 years... I am certainly never going to pre order a game from there. I would also recommend to anybody else that they not pre order games from them either...

They have improved massively in the games department and I have done nothing but saved money.

meh - I just buy / preorder from amazon because it saves a lot of time and gas as it gets to my house for free.

Buy it at work, sitting on couch, or whatever. On launch day its just magically sitting on my table at home. Or if it wasn't a launch item, a day or two its on my table at home.

I hate to go to any store at this point. Just have better things to do with my time. From work to play, none involve walking into a store.

The last game I pre - ordered was GTAV & that was because of hype. Otherwise I don't find enough incentive to pre - order something I can easily walk in and buy during its launch day/ week.
