Why waste money keeping someone like this alive?

The death sentence costs more than life imprisonment.

Interesting.

How does it all work out? I kind of assumed it wouldn't be that expensive

He should be given an expedited death penalty in whatever place where they can do it quick & dirty or let him have a luxurious stay in a russian prison for the rest of his days. We should outsource carrying out the punishment to a different country. He shouldn't be punished in the states.

The death penalty is always wrong. I don't care what you did, you should not be put to death.

Appeals, when you get sent to death row you basically get unlimited appeals and all have to be reviewed which leads to countless hours of work in the courts and massive legal bills.  A man on death row once complained that getting jell-o for dessert with his dinner a week in a row ammounted to cruel and unusual punishment, and it had to be reviewed.

I just can't believe this is true or even close to true with regard costs. A young man like this could live a further 60 years in jail and the appeal process is still there for people with a life sentence. Why on earth would they even consider a complaint about jell-o desert at that level.

I totally accept that the appeals process needs to be there though and thorough and can see this would be expensive but there should still be huge savings over a life sentence without parole.

I have no sympathy or empathy for scum like this. Throughout human history we have made up ridiculous reasons to be prejudice against different countries, races and genders but this is one area where we need more prejudice and hatred. Those that ruin and destroy the lives of others.

I don't think that he should be killed. He should be sentenced to a life in prison instead.
