Forums - Nintendo Discussion - With what we know now, could a 100 dollar price drop push the Wii U over the X1 this holiday?

What could a large price drop do with what we know now?

Push it between 13 and 15 million by Jan 1st 55 28.50%

Give it a large push for ... 35 18.13%

They cannot drop it that ... 39 20.21%

other post below 1 0.52%

No one wants it, will not enhance sales 44 22.80%

ees ressults 8 4.15%

Over Reggies Dead body! 11 5.70%

Total:193

A price drop accompanied by a big game would have helped, last year with Smash would have been a good time, or if Zelda had released this year. With the line-up this year, it will help, but not much.

No people will go with the more powerful console

It's too late for the Wii U.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

This is the no cuts generation

Halo...nuff said. The Xbox One would probably sell more consoles in that week alone ( Halo release week ), than a WII U with a $100 price-cut would be able to do in all of the holiday season.

i think they just have to bundle realy good and cut 50$ to win the the holidays against the xbone.
the sales of the xbone will be bad, because the ps4 will crush it.

Even if the Wii U dropped to 100 dollars I doubt it could handle what the PS4 is going to dish out this Holiday season ( agree?). But what about the X1? Splatoon alone got the Wii U with in a certain range of the X1, so a 100 dollar price point could be huge!

You mean for a few weeks? Sure. Not for the whole holiday.

Wii U has fallen back into the 40s and its holiday line up is no where near as strong as Xbox which has Halo, StarWars, Call of Duty, Fallout 4, Assassins Creed, Need for Speed etc. Microsoft will likely sell more units in Oct, November and December then Nintendo will sell throughout the whole year. I don't think the price elasticity of the Wii U is that big, its a niche console just like the Vita. A $100 price drop will give it a massive 2 weeks and a baseline boott but not something the X1 wouldn't completely obliterate from Blackfriday sales alone.

They should have removed the gamepad, and sold it with a normal cheap version of a pro controller, for 249$.

They should have done that at launch, and made the gamepad a optional additional buy for the Wii U.

Think its too late now to gain much from a price cut. Everyone is just waiting on it to die, and the NX to launch at this point.

Nope. Nothing can help the Wii U now.

Pricedrops need games.

A Wii U for $100 less, supported by Yoshi's Wooly World and Super Mario Maker will not compete with an Xbox One that will see some pretty crazy value bundles and holiday price slices from specific retailers, while its supported by Halo 5, Forza 6, Fallout, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed, Need for Speed, Black Ops 3 and Battlefront.

Seriously, the bundles and part time pricecuts that will be on offer with the One this Holiday will blow Wii U out of the water. With or without a $100 cut.

While you have a valid point you should not forguet about Xenoblade and Star Fox LOL

Those are exclusives you can´t find anywhere else and WiiU already has a ton of great exclusives games, a price drop is what thousands of people have been waiting to buy the console.
