Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will New 3DS ever have an exclusive?

The New 3DS is a hard upgrade for a lot of people so I'm wondering, is it in Nintendo's interest to release at least one exclusive game for it?  It slightly enhances games like MH4 and Majora's Mask but it's extra horsepower is worthless right now.

When I heard about the new Fire Emblem I expected it to be N3DS exclusive.  Some games could use that extra power, like Federation Force and the Zelda spin off(to have 4 players).

Thoughts?

Xenoblade Chronicles demake.

So far Nintendo has given very few reasons to upgrade to N3DS. And at this point, I don't think making a N3DS exclusive would be a good idea when you could release it on the NX or on the bigger userbase of the 3DS. The N3DS never should have splitted the userbase to begin with.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It already does - or are you saying that the Xenoblade Chronicles remake is a port rather than an exclusive. The thing with releasing New 3DS exclusives is that it doesn't make any great business sense for Nintendo to aim any game for only a small fraction of the 3DS userbase rather than the whole lot. That's why I imagine their current approach of having New 3DS exclusive features in regular 3DS games is the way they will continue.

Yeah that's not even an exclusive either.  It does nothing to really showcase the difference between the New and OG; it's a downgraded Wii game that had shitty textures to begin with.

Doesn't look like it so all the people that were scared of the whole "Nintendo is going to abandon the 3ds for the new 3ds and it will have tons of exclusives" can stop crying now cause all it is, (Just like I predicted) is a revision that enhances the 3ds experience and nothing more (apart from Xenoblade)

If New Nintendo 3DS has exclusives: People is gonna be angry because they feel like they should buy another 3DS

If New Nintendo 3Ds has no exclusives: People is gonna be angry because there is no difference in software, only on hardware.

I hope they don´t make any exclusives for N3DS in the same way they didn´t make exclusives for GBA SP or DSi

If Nintendo supports N3DS for a few more years (like GBC) they can give it some exclusives. But it won't happen obviously.

A handheld gamer only (for now).

Maybe one or two, but not AAA titles.

Considering I'm reasonably positive 2016 will be the last year Nintendo cares about the 3DS system family even a little, you can guarantee no exclusive N3DS content is coming. Ever. It just doesn't make sense to bother, which is why I was personally a little confused when people expected it to begin with. For anyone thinking the 3DS might live for 2+ more years (nobody in this thread yet, just in general), look at the lifespan of the far more successful DS family, then tell me they have any reason to let the 3DS family, currently the worst selling collection of Nintendo handhelds ever, live on past 2016.

The system has a little life in itself yet, but I have a feeling we won't be seeing much in the latter half of 2016 unless the DQ games get localized really slowly. Of all the potential coming releases, the odds of any being N3DS exclusive, truly exclusive, are non-existent.
