Well I don't like Minecraft. I like having a goal in my games, even if it's as simple as rescuing a princess or something, it gives a reason to keep playing. A game like this I would probably enjoy for 1 session or 2 at most because there is not a reason to keep playing for me, that is why I ask if there is a story, I'm not just looking for "something to complain about" I ask a real question because the game looks interesting.

The way I look at this game: Does life really have a story? This game is similar: you follow certain rules (work, mine, discover, interact with others, strive to get to the center of the galaxy) but ultimately you have a freedom to do what you enjoy the most.

As Sean says in the video, some people might spend their entire game on just one planet, exploring it, discovering it, playing on it. Others will just fly towards the center, some will just be traders, some will be pirates, some will just be there to talk to other gamers...

So, there is no story, no princesses, no evil bosses, no chapters... Just one big open galaxy to do as you please.

To some this might not be interesting, but to me... I knew I want to play it, but now I know that this will be a day one purchase (and I almost never buy games day one).

I want to be among the first to play, I want to fly and discover and give names to planets, suns and wildlife.

I haven't been so excited for a game in quite some time! The more I see of No Man's Sky, the more unbearable the wait becomes.

Even if it was only exploration and nothing else, I would've been happy. But there's also combat, trading, progression, and lots of other dynamics.

There's only 1 real concern I have left, and that's whether they can make each planet feel truly unique. With billions of procedurally-generated planets, there's bound to be similar ones. But I don't want there to just be slight variations on a dozen or so "themes" of planets.

Other than that though, this will pretty much be my dream exploration game.

Im convienced.
Game is going to be pretty epic.

We will never witness interstellar travelling in our lifetimes. So it's quite exciting to at least do it in a game. =)

Speaking of Interstellar, I need to watch that movie. lol

It looks like a very beautiful game but I don't really get the point of it. What are you aiming for exactly? Visiting different worlds over and over again and doing the same things would just become boring and repetitive, at least for me.

I think it's like spore, or elite... it's all about the voyage of discovery. The ability to go anywhere and do what you want.

Explorer, fighter, Rebel, Miner, Collector... etc etc.

This game could be this gen's Minecraft... it's not got this "do quest A, quest B" but do what you want, when you want. For me this is a very exciting game, as long as there is enough things to do in it.
