Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo thinks Sony and Microsoft will steal their next console idea.

Sorry if this is already an old news. So Satoru Iwata said during shareholders meeting that they keep NX as their secret because they're afraid that their "competitor" will steal their idea.

"We can't talk about the NX. If we do, competitors may take our ideas and customers won't be surprised. This would not be beneficial for the company or its shareholders" -Satoru Iwata during recent shareholder meeting.

What I can't believe is that they actually have a mindset about this. What do you guys think about this?

same old nonesense they said with the WiiU. too afraid of the competition "Stealing their ideas". Nintendo, you gotta come up with some good ideas first for the competition to want to steal them.

and its pretty clear that Sony has a much clearer and better vision for what they want to make and what the industry wants than Nintendo.

I think this is just an excuse. They don't want to reveal the project soon to avoid hurting both WiiU and 3DS sales, so they'd say anything to avoid talking about the NX besides confirming its existence.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

The interesting part is their "excuse" is dragging their competitor too. Remember when they said Wii U and 3DS have more "great" game than the competitor's console.

I hope Nintendo use their sense when talking about their failure.

Well I think every single company out there wants to keep whatever they're doing with a next gen console a secret, not just Nintendo. So it could just mean that after Nintendo blabbed about the NX, they are now saying that they still want to keep it a secret so as to make it seem that the NX will still be in development for a long time.

My point is why they thing their competitor will steal their idea. Does Nintendo have some bad experience with this?

No, I don't think so. Maybe during the Sega vs Nintendo days. No one has stolen their ideas in recent times though.

Well in all fairness they have before when their console's been a big success. If anything all companies should be doing the same. It shouldn't be something you should come out and say, you should just do it anyway. I'm sure people are going joke about it or take the mick out of Nintendo for it because of the not so good moment they are currently having with Wii U, but it's not new for Iwata to come out with a console and completely amaze people to the point of where it launches and constantly sells out (Wii) and that was after the Gamecube not having a good time which I might add Iwata wasn't in charge of then.

Based on Nintendo's history, I don't think MS or Sony would want to copy their idea's. If they did they would wait several years like motion gaming.
