Pokemon Shuffle Coming To iOS And Android Later This Year

The reasonably well-received Pokemon Shuffle has been a hit on the Nintendo 3DS since it launched. Nintendo has already mentioned that it has surpassed 4 million downloads, which is impressive to say the least. Now the inevitable has happened and the Pokemon Company has announced that Pokemon Shuffle Mobile is coming to the iTunes App Store and Google Play later this year. No doubt it will be a massive success on each of these platforms.

Pokémon Shuffle Mobile is coming to iTunes App Store and Google Play in 2015! In Pokémon Shuffle Mobile, your goal is to clear various stages by lining up the same Pokémon and clearing these matches from the puzzle area. Within each puzzle stage, you can deal damage to the wild Pokémon you face by lining up three of the same Pokémon to clear them. Battle and try to catch the Pokémon before you run out of moves!

So this is interesting. Nintendo has waited long enough to put this game on mobile. Maybe all of Nintendo mobile games will imitate Shuffle? Stay a couple of months on the handhelds and home consoles for free, and once Nintendo sees the title attracts interest, release it into mobiles?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Welp.

Can't say I'm suprised at all.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I feel like this particular type of all-the-way mobile game (limited hearts and such) doesn't work on the 3DS. I'm glad they're trying it out on proper mobile platforms and curious to see how well it does.

Hmmm... Maybe this'll become the best "selling" Pokemon title...

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I actually like that they tried on 3DS first, to try and catter their main audience first. Also, now they can say "monster success, more than 4 million active players" to advertise it.

The Pokemon branch has nothing to do with Nintendo's mobile branch, so I would not be worried about how indicative it is of Nintendo's first mobile game.

If Nintendo's mobile games are just like Shuffle, they're in trouble.

Anything but. This will likely make them a killing.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Little doubt in my mind it will.  It'll probably cross 100 million downloads -- making it the most prolific 'Nintendo' game ever.

About time really.

"And, if I can talk a bit further about our game development plan, we will continue doing our best to develop dedicated game titles for our dedicated game hardware platforms just as we have been doing. For smart devices, even in the case where we utilize the same IP, we will create completely new game software that will perfectly match the play styles of smart devices."   ~Iwata, March 2015

"If we were to bring Pokémon to iPad or mobile or smartphones or anything, I think there would need to be ... some sort of problem it would be solving, not just that it would be porting over old games, for example," Masuda said via translator.
