There definitely are a few really low scores for Wii U (The Letter with 14, some minigame thing with 11) but they are very few in number compared to the total amount of review scores so I don't think it would change the score measurably. The others have bad games too, both have Rugby 2015 at 20 for example.

Agree that by publisher ninty would be well up there on average. This is also a case where the median might tell a meaningful story.

It's late here but tomorrow I'll break it down a bit further, split it by publisher and work out the median score (I'm predicting around 70 for all three).

this thread is kinda pointless to me, i dont see anyone making a decision wich console to buy just by seeing this.

It includes all review scores including multiplat. Why? Because I was interested among other things in the effect XB1's performance deficit might have on scores (very little). It is true that more reviews are done on PS4, but remember I counted Metacritic scores, not review scores. If the XB1 version gets one review from a site they include in their scoring, then it have a Metacritic score. So even though the PS4 version might get more reviews, the number of metacritic scores I feel is still a decent measure of relative library size. It's definitely not absolute though, all three platforms have many more games than what metacritic has listed, plenty of small download only games never get reviewed.

Fair call, though I don't see why every thread must be trying to sell you a particular console. It's just an observation I thought others might be interested in.

Was wondering how long it would take for someone to downplay it.

Thread states average meta by gen 8, what does BC and Wii have to do with anything? Even if theyre played on the Xbox One and WiiU, they're still Gen 7 games.

Is there a particular reason you think all stats posted by users have to be "reasons to buy a particular console" ?

Last post for tonight, that point would make sense if we were talking about 20-30 scores, but now that we have at a minimum over 200 scores, the average score is more meaningful than what you are suggesting. Seems a few people want to single out Gen 8 only games, so tomorrow I'll run those numbers and see what comes out of it.  Could also do 'all games playable on Gen 8 consoles' and include Wii games but that is a far bigger task.

PS4 games are usually reviewed higher, just look at Shovel Knight on PS4 vs. Wii U. Came out almost a year later yet it has 91% vs. 88% on Wii U.

And there's no way Shovel Knight is better than DKC: TF or Yoshi's Woolly World. So yeah, I don't take metacritc all that seriously. 79% for Yoshi's Woolly World is one big joke when NSMBU has 84% and Rayman Legends 91%...

I want to see a list of all the games.

Damn so PS4 has higher scores despite having more games aka increased likelyhood of crap games. + PS4 gets the majority of the reviews and the platform with most reviews usually tend to have a lower score due to more lower scores overall.
