Forums - Politics Discussion - When in England you don't touch the Queen's guard.

He may be little more than marching in place for show and a total waste of money. BUT he is still a soldier, one carrying a loaded gun as such he reacted very well all things considered. If he didn't react as such perhaps the next person would be someone with ill intent and take the rifle from him.

They are marching in place, but actually they are Guards... if something went horribly wrong - i.e an attack they are in place to defend the queen etc. The show is for visitors, but dont think they dont have a serious part to them, which is guarding the location from attack.

You wouldnt walk up to an armed police man and put your hand on his shoulder... I think they problem is they have become a bit of a tourist attraction and people treat them like some amusement park.

Agree about the gun thing....

This is the entirety of the problem.  No one WOULD play around with an ordinary armed guard because they know they would be face down on the concrete with a knee in their back and probably arrested.  If you make guards part of the show then some people will treat them as nothing more than part of the show.

They should either be guards or a tourist attraction, not both.

I feel sorry for the guard.

That guard probably reacted exactly to protocol. At least what he shouted at the guy seemed like it was according to some sort of procedure to me.

I expected more. Seemed like he used as little force as possible.

LOL.

That was kind of him.

Awesome reaction from the guard and completely justified :).

He touched him and put his hand just a few inches from the rifle. If you're that stupid you deserve to get stabbed in the face.
